Why should we flee a “civil war” we may have created in Iraq, but yet rush to intervene in a clear civil war that has nothing to do with us in Dafur?

I got into a 'discussion' with a co-worker about this very topic. After he pontificated about the cause for going to war, I finally cornered him on the present. I asked him regardless of what got us here and realizing the situation we are in now, “Do you want to win the war in Iraq?” His response was a sober "no".
Incredulous.
