Word on the street is that these senators are looking for guidance as to how they should vote on cloture:

Bond (R-Mo.), Bingaman (D-N.M.), Burr (R-N.C.), Boxer (D-Calif.), Cochran (R-Miss.), Conrad (D-N.D.), Ensign (R-Nev.), Levin (D-Mich.), Gregg (R-N.H.), Nelson (D-Neb.), Hatch (R-Utah), Webb (D-Va.) Please render some clear and unambiguous guidance to these wandering souls.

Also, I called Larry Craig's office this morning and was told he has not said how he is going to vote on cloture. He voted against it last time, but as far as I can tell, he has not committed to do so again, at least publicly. His phone number is 202 224-2752.

I can give them some “clear and unambiguous guidance” ... by applying the tip of my shoe to their backsides a few times. Think that’ll work? :)

Burr surprises me, especially since Dole has been so strong and vocal an opponent of the bill..

Don’t bother with Babs. She prides herself on her 96% ADA voting record and wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize it.

My apologies to all that Wisconsin has been a lost cause on this from Day One.

Herb (Confirmed Bachelor) Kohl and Russ (Traitor) Feingold both want amnesty.

Gotta have cheap labor ‘round heah to pick the taters. *Rolleyes*

I’m sure my CongressLesbian, Tammy Baldwin, is on board with this, too...however this stuff scares her because people are being “too mean” and she’s made a career out of winning because Conservatives are always “too mean!”

Besides, she just cares about gays and the elderly. And elderly gays.

Gawd, I hate the politics in my state!

Be careful here...Reids’ very devious....the reason he wants a bunch of GOP senators to vote for cloture, and thus, in effetc guarantee that the bill will pass, is that he will then allow many in the Dem caucus to vote AGAINST the bill, and thus tell their constituents they opposed it..like Pryor and Landrieu...

Burr has been identified by National Review Magazine as one of the Senators the Amnesty pushers need to win.

Senator Burr has ordered his staff to say that he "Does not support the bill in its current form", however, he is deep in negotiations with the White House and big business lobby, and has told them he will support the bill if they add a 'touchback' provision. This touchback provision is a complete con job because the illegals only have to leave for a day anytime over the next 8 years and can quickly return to the US saying, "Look I came in legally, what's your problem?" This info was reported by Congress Daily.

And this position gives him cover to vote for cloture. They need 60 votes to invoke cloture, but only 50 to pass the bill, so a vote for cloture is a vote for amnesty, regardless of what he says.

Burr remains uncommited, and some phone calls and emails to his office might help him make the right decision.

Laura Ingrham is taking Trent Lott apart this morning. She jsut denounced all “hairspray politicians”..those who spend MORE time thinking about their hair than the merits of a bill..

I would call Kohl’s office. I hear he has been taking heat from the unions for supporting the bill. Perhaps he could be persuaded to vote against cloture.

Well, we in PA have a Democrat senator and a Republican who might as well be a Democrat senator. And I have a Democrat in the House representing the district where I live. I tried writing to all three, not a single response. That’s what galls me — our representatives don’t care what we think.

Well, that’s ok...I’ll care when they come up for re-election. If I have to, I’ll write in my cat’s name — I’ll even vote for a dead guy — anyone but this bunch of losers.

Babs voted against cloture last time because the bill was “too hard” on illegal aliens. It has hardened up since then. She might be tempted...

I know that that's the way it often works in Congress but you've gotta admit that the political landscape of Arkansas and Louisiana is different...*quite* different... from that of California.

“Gawd, I hate the politics in my state!”

That seems to be a more common attitude than the “ruling” elite know. History Channel had a show on this morning about “The Sons of Liberty”. Seems to me that it is time for a rebirth. You know - redress our grievances, taxation, common defense, etc.

Pass this bill and I secede from the GOP.

I am surprised that Wisconsin still has a football team with representation like that.

I was surprised to see her name on the list, that’s for sure. I can’t believe she’d even dream of voting against amnesty.
