This is not to say that over the centuries Christians havent tried to impose their values at times, which in the Middle Ages produced bloody crusades and inquisitions.
From what I’ve studied the crusades were the nonmuslim response to a Jihad intended to take over the known world.

Crusading Christians doled out retribution in kind, but it was nothing out of the ordinary for those times.
The Crusades happened in response to muslim aggression, persecution and murder of Christians by muslims and disruption of trade routes.
