Ego.
Once a politician gets it into his head he is a power to be reckoned with, there’s no subject safe from their all encompassing ego.
Just because he lacks knowledge of a subject doesn’t mean he’s not ready, will and able to make decisions based solely on the power of his office and his own hyperinflated sense of self.
