Prosecutor Mike Nifong has been disbarred by a state disciplinary committee for the horrendous way he conducted the prosecution on rape charges of three innocent Duke lacrosse players.

Nifong has given up his right to appeal, meaning this verdict is final. However, Nifong could still face criminal charges.

First they force an innocent, wholesome young women to accuse them of rape. Then they get an upstanding pillar of the community disbarred. Those Duke Lacrosse players are pure evil!

Not often do we see justice like this! Did anyone catch Reade Seilgman’s testimony? Nifong seemed to have no reaction to it. It is like he has no remorse — just stunned that someone stood up to him.

Well, Durham county anyway. I still think Duke has more groveling to do, though Seligmann seems to have forgiven the school.

If the Gang of 88 comes out of this still owning the shirts on their backs, they should consider it a miracle.

While justice is great to have once in a while, what is sad is wondering how many Nifongs are there out there, railroading people to pad their political resume.

Now, will the 88 professors that condemned the players apologize?

Oh, they’ll get away with it. “Tenure” covers a multitude of sins. I was moved by Seligmann’s account of how acquaintances with whom he was on good terms suddenly snubbed him, hung “wanted” posters, etc. I wonder if any of them have apologized.

You can lump Ronnie Earle of Travis county TX in with that bunch.

...what is sad is wondering how many Nifongs are there out there, railroading people to pad their polical resume.

And I'd venture a guess that the overwhelming majority of these out-of-control "Nifongs" are Democrats and that the defendants they "railroad" are frequently white middle class and/or professional males. Just cases of acting out their hatred for a typically conservative demographic stereotype.

The Duke lacrosse players pulled a rare upset in this case. Most of the victims of these rash prosecutorial tactics wind up convicted with harsh sentences. Just ask "Scooter" Libby.

Liberalism means never having to say you're sorry.

Academic Freedom means never having to admit you're wrong.

The Gang of Eighty Eight undoubtedly controls (or is reflected in) the University Faculty Senate, and in their world-view the Duke Lacrosse team is/was/always will be guilty of something far more serious than rape: having the white skin privilege. The accusation against them was not false in its essentials, merely in a specific and trivial detail. The details are of no importance. The truly significant crime of being white and wealthy remains.

Like the faculty at all elite campuses the Duke Faculty consists of children who have no reason to ever grow up. Rest assured there will be no penalty levied against the University by its Alumni or any of its sources of funding. More mischief is guaranteed; if not at Duke, then at some other place differing only in location and name...

The best part of the article are the last 7 words, “However, Nifong could still face criminal charges.”

Let’s hope so. Next would come the civil suits by these 3 young guys against Nifong, the Univ. and for good measure throw in the “gang of 88” professors.

The best case scenario would be for these 3 to win those suits and with some of the money donate to a stadium or building on campus carrying their names and a mention of this tragedy.

“Now sue nifong for at least 2mil.”

He’s already pulled the equity out of his house to pay for his defense. There’s no money.
