GOP official angry about story [CA - GOP Canadian consultant follow-up]
SF Gate.com ^ | 6/15/07 | John Wildermuth

A story in Thursday's Chronicle about the California Republican Party's use of a coveted H-1B visa to hire a political consultant from Canada apparently hit a nerve. Only hours after the paper hit the doorstep -- or, for the more tech-oriented crowd, the Web -- a GOP leader fired off a missive slamming the Chronicle and a Republican commentator critical of the hiring.

"The press is trying to portray Republicans as racist (see the "brown menace" quote in the story) when we discuss illegal immigration," Michael Kamburowski, the party's recently hired chief operating officer, said in a letter to the state party's executive board, "yet when we promote individuals who have displayed great skills but who just happen to hail from another country, we are pegged as hypocrites."

Of course Kamburowski has a dog in this fight, as an Australian citizen who also isn't eligible to vote for the party he's working for.

This is part II to this story from yesterday

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/06/14/MNG3DQF4U11.DTL&type=politics

Kamburowski said in his letter. "I do not know Karen, but I find the spectacle of someone who has fed at the trough of the CRP (California Republican Party) behaving in this way despicable and sad. If she desires a career in Republican circles in Washington -- she may find her career rather short-lived."

This Kamburowski guy needs to be fired today for that comment.

No, not hypocrites, traitors.

The purpose of having a political party is to promote specific ideas and policies. The CRP exists to promote Californians into public office by which to institute its policy preferences. It does not exist to promote Canadian leaders. That means its management should seek and promote PEOPLE who articulate those ideas and policies and help them grow into LEADERS.

That takes experience sirrah, OJT. No job, no learning, no promotion, NO LEADERS. When you hire a Canadian, you are depriving a California Republican of the opportunity to become a leader. You are therefore a traitor to the CRP.

I found Kamburowski full email at RedState San Bernardino:
The following email was just sent out from California Republican Party COO Michael Kamburowski to the State Party’s Board of Directors in response to the San Francisco Chronicle’s article on the hire of Canadian citizen Christopher Matthews as a deputy political director. Kamburowski, a citizen of Australia, also addresses the critical comments of former CRP staffer and Fox News regular Karen Hanretty.
From: Michael Kamburowski
Sent: Thursday, June 14, 2007 9:15 AM
Subject: Chris Matthews

Dear Board members:

It is unfortunate that the San Francisco Chronicle preempted an official announcement of the coming onboard this week of Chris Matthews as CRP’s Director of Research and Political Technology. Today’s story contains several factual inaccuracies, but be that as it may, it doesn’t take away from the fact that Chris is eminently qualified for this position and that all applicable legal procedures and requirements of our nation’s immigration were followed in his hiring.

For the record, Chris was hired before I came onboard, although I fully support his hiring and, having spent time with him and having had the opportunity to assess his strengths, I am fully certain that he will be a fantastic addition to our team. His strong technical, analytical skills will enhance our ability to organize and win.

The press is trying to portray Republicans as racist (see the “brown menace” quote in the story) when we discuss illegal immigration, yet when we promote individuals who have displayed great skills but who just happen to hail from another country, we are pegged as hypocrites. No one ever raised eyebrows when James Carville and other Democrat operatives traveled to Israel, the UK and elsewhere to lend their political skills to foreign political campaigns.

Finally, and sadly, this story would not have the “legs” it does were it not for the role Karen Hanretty is playing in fanning it. I say “playing” because she continues to feed false information to the press and fish for more information on this even today. I do not know Karen, but I find the spectacle of someone who has fed at the trough of the CRP behaving in this way despicable and sad. If she desires a career in Republican circles in Washington as the new Kevin Phillips, she may find her career rather short-lived.

On another topic, an announcement about our new Political Director will be made to you later today. I have concluded all the requisite vetting and meetings and am comfortable with my choice.

If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to call me.

Michael Kamburowski
Chief Operating Officer
California Republican Party

Supporting the politicians Americans will no longer support.
Soon the party will have to import voters from Canada and Australia.

I don’t usually use the McClintock ping list for other purposes but, since I don’t have a California ping list,
this is action by the California Republican Party seemed worthy of attention.

Importing political consultants is a bit like importing dirt. You can do it, but why?

Yes, Kamburowski’s comment about Ms. Hanretty is a firing offense. Mega-dittoes.

She’s a good spokeswoman and, as far as I can tell, has been a loyal Republican leader in a difficult state. I attended a presentation of hers a couple of years ago, about dealing with the media as a Republican, and it was excellent. Maybe I’m a little biased, because Karen is also a jaw-droppingly beautiful lady, but I like to think I’d say the same even if she was a complete blah in terms of looks.

Talking about a good woman, or a good man, in this way is thuggish.

Six years ago they brought in a guy from Las Vegas. I know plenty of lifelong native Californians -- dozens if not more -- who are qualified for these jobs and would accept them. If the CRP were "searching" no one called around to ask about actual Californians who have experience in California (and no I'm not looking for the job).

Citizens of the earth don't care about the piddling issues troubling California, they've got fish to fry while sucking it dry.

Sometimes you bring someone in from out of town who hasn't been involved in years of the petty little games of local politics. For example, what happens if the best thing for the party is to promote a strong candidate, but too many locals remember when he supported the "wrong" person on a school board election 10 years ago and have been holding a grudge since then.

IMO it's a globalist agenda, giving experience to foreigners to send them home to deliver favors to overseas investors.
