In another press report, it was stated that the U.S. Government has taken over the operations of the Numero Uno markets. Wonder if they're going to check on the immgration status of their new employees?

And you know there's got to be other crap like this going on - on just as large a scale.
Public pressure might be working. Let's keep making noise about the illegals and that sham of an immigration bill.

No way, Linda Chavez says the undocumented americans are as wholesome as any Preotestant American.
The RICO charge must be fraudulent...the Latino Entrpreneurs did not use the assistance of public officialsincluding former Los Angeles Area Planning Commissioner Carmona and current Los Angeles Convention and Exhibition Center Authority Commissioner Luk - to obtain valuable licenses and permits for Torres’ businesses in return for monetary kickbacks and lavish gifts.

The murders allegedly ordered by Torres include a fatal drive-by shooting of a Primera Flats Street gang member in May 1993, which was ordered in retaliation for the death of a Numero Uno security guard. The indictment also alleges that George Torres ordered the February 1994 murder of a gang member who demanded a "tax" from a Numero Uno Market and the murder of a former employee who allegedly stole $500,000 from a Numero Uno Market. Timely prosecution.

I guess this guy needs hammered for the illegal aliens thing, but I have to sympathize with having gangmembers killed for killing one of his security guards, and for demanding protection money. I believe I’d do the same in his position. Sure looks like the law didn’t do anything about it, except wait until he’d built his business up pretty well and then step in...

Wonder if they're going to check on the immgration status of their new employees?Ofcourse not; then they might have to do something about it. There was an illegal workign as a gardener at a Border Patrol station in Washington state, up near the Canadian brder.

“According to the indictment, Torres and his brother ordered various murders and assaults to maintain control of the criminal enterprise. The murders allegedly ordered by Torres include a fatal drive-by shooting of a Primera Flats Street gang member in May 1993, which was ordered in retaliation for the death of a Numero Uno security guard. The indictment also alleges that George Torres ordered the February 1994 murder of a gang member who demanded a “tax” from a Numero Uno Market and the murder of a former employee who allegedly stole $500,000 from a Numero Uno Market.”
So far it sound to me like he was defending his business and surprisingly the employees of his business..
Maybe not all is as it is being portrayed here.
