Immigration Bill Will Return to Senate
Wall Street Journal ^ | 15 June 2007 | David Rogers

In a terse statement last evening, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) announced the bill will be called up again next week, when the Senate expects to have completed action on an energy bill. Officials said they hoped this would allow lawmakers to vote on the immigration overhaul by the July 4 recess.

Before the decision, Democratic and Republican supporters agreed to a set of about 22 amendments, which will frame the remaining debate and refine issues already in the bill. The precise wording of the amendments wasn't released. Mr. Reid is betting that enough senators will be satisfied that their points of view have been expressed that they will be willing to break any remaining filibuster attempt by conservatives.

Before the decision, Democratic and Republican supporters agreed to a set of about 22 amendments, which will frame the remaining debate. Mr. Reid is betting that enough senators will then be willing to break any remaining filibuster attempt by conservatives.

No specific promises have been made by the Republican leadership, but Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky joined with Mr. Reid in making the announcement and meeting with supporters prior to its release.

So, this is how they'll work the fix.

We'll accept your amendment, but only if you vote to override an right thinking Senator's filibuster.

Build the fence which was in the last bill.

When it’s DONE, and only then, make another bill.

First things first.

Not building a fence and passing that Amnesty bill will turn America into a 3rd world socialist hell hole:

This McCain-kennedy Amnesty bill will give Amnesty to 20 million illegals. Those 20 million will be allowed to bring to the U.S.A their extended family so that’s another 200 million illiterate, poor, Marxists who will turn the U.S.A into a socialist hell hole like Venezuela or Cuba. For your information:Socialism doesn't work.

The Amnesty bill will send the message to 6 billion poor 3rd world people that all they have to do is get here to the U.S. anyway they can and then Kennedy and McCain will give them Amnesty. How many billions of illiterate people you think the U.S. can take before there is a total bankruptcy and collapse of the economy and social programs? How many of these poor, illiterates are you willing to take into your house?

We can’t let billions of uneducated, poor people come to the U.S.A like that amnesty bill will allow to come here to take our land, jobs, resources, social security, Medicare, and ruin our country . We have laws. and people can’t just break them. I can’t move into your house can I? .If we have open borders then 2 billion 3rd world illiterate people will move to the U.S.A.there are 6 billion poor people in the world.

Also many Islamic terrorists are and have been getting into the U.S.A through the southern border. And Kennedy-McCain wants to give them Amnesty. How will these Democrat villians in the Senate live with themselves when Islamic terrorists detonate a nuke in a U.S. city? Build Republican Duncan Hunter's double Fence. Close the border NOW. Only Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo can get us out of this mess.

I don’t really care if poor 3rd worlders ruined their countries just like I don’t care if some bum lives on the street. They did it to themselves. I don’t have any obligation to take in that bum or to take in 200 million socialists into my country to ruin the last hope of freedom on earth. My only obligation is to myself and to survive.

From the Washington Times:Bill permits 193 million more aliens

Darn it! I thought we were done with that America-killing amnesty bill. We are living through a historical time that is not good. Our country is in big trouble.

The polls say that Americans do not approve of any of the clowns that are running the country, yet these same clown politicians are making permanent changes to the fabric of United States of America.

Nobody likes or agrees with these politicians yet they are making decisions that will effect the future of all of us and our children.

Is this a “scorched earth” policy being perpetrated by these America-killing politicians? They are traitors?Who gave these clown politicians a mandate to change the entire country? They are all thieves!

“The precise wording of the amendments wasn’t released.”

We have a right to know.

Sure wish some of the senators who got the “bush lecture” and the “kennedy lecture” would post what they were told and/or promised for their vote.

Would sure help out so we could call the bast**rds out. In all my years I have never heard what was actually said and done behind those closed doors.

At some point people need to stop with the “build the wall, show results” and “deport them all” comments, and start realizing that the political establishment in Washington DC are, by even the most strict definition of the term, committing treason on a scale unheard of in the history of nation states.

It’s so large the nation state of the United States will cease to exist as a functioning entity within short order on a historical scale.

There is very little left to debate, there are no conspiracies involved, the parties responsible are openly propagandizing and the power structure is openly supporting it’s own antithetical forces.

It’s no longer a question of character, morals, politicking, lobbying, special interests and other canards put forward in the last weeks.

We’re down to the single question,

Will the richest 0.5% of the country be given free reign of the power of the state to eliminate the value of US citizenship and the centuries of institutional memory that have been built by the people of this republic, in order to permanently, outside of open revolt, secure their privilege as masters of the future children of this continent?

Every politician who has come out in support of this bill has answered this question, and decided their personal wealth and comfort during their lifetime is worth bankrupting the future of the nation, or have made the calculated decision that their own progeny will continue to be members of the ruling elite, and have decided to remove all charades of democratic republicanism in their quest to entrench their bloodlines into the increasingly oppressive power structure.

Someone on FR please prove me wrong.

"This McCain-kennedy Amnesty bill will give Amnesty to 20 million illegals."

You can't let President Bush off the hook here. I supported him in two elections and he is reviving this crap bill. Is this my reward for that support?

There is nothing that can be done. The passage of S.1348 is a certainty. Conservative will just have to accept the fact that there will be millions of new Americans.
Instead of obsessing over this one issue, conservatives should be show more concern on the War on Terror which looks to be heating up considerably in the Middle East.

Our country, jobs, land, our way of life , and everything we have worked for is about to be taken away here. Is this a blame game or should we try to find a way to warn people and stop this Amnesty bill?

If you want me to blame someone then you should also blame Soros and all his groups who are lobbying congress and blame the Democrat Senators who voted 86% to pass this Amnesty bill in the cloture vote last week. I didn’t mention that in my post either.

The American people did when they voted them into office.

It’s probably party power being perpetuated, not so much family power(well, maybe a little). But we’re puting the cart before the horse. This bill will go through. The question is this: will Freepers decide to go down in a blaze of glory and forsake the ability to affect and change this bill. I don’t think howling is going to help this time. Are Freepers just going to waste the energy that only they can exert to change this bill into one we can actually live with instead of the bill permanently changing our lives and culture to a point where we won’t be able to recognize it. Can we not absorb the illegals already here and partially assimilated and compromise that concession for language that would stem the flow of future immigrants and language that would force immigrants to apply for citizenship outside the U.S. at our embassies instead of using the Z-visa program. I know the illegals here broke the law but it hasn’t been enforced and such a law means little if you’re piss poor and have no opportunity.

Are you kidding? Are we going to let 20 million criminals become a burden to our children in the name of increased profits for the wage suppression lobby? This bill is ONLY about keeping wages down for the working class....it is GREED at the expence of the future of the country. Your a tool.....

Stop the immigration bill by discussing Border security only with a NO CONFIDENCE vote on leadership.

They did this to us once, amnesty without border security, now demand border security and illegals stay illegals until we have a fence.

NO CONFIDENCE
