DELAVAN, WIS. -- A shooting inside a home left six people dead, and a child was found in a nearby vehicle with a gunshot to the chest, the Delavan police chief said Sunday.
Police were responding to a report of shots fired Saturday night in this southern Wisconsin city, Chief Tim O'Neill said.
The child, a 2-year-old girl, was taken to a hospital in Rockford, Ill., on Saturday night, where she was in critical condition, hospital officials said.
Rockford Memorial hospital officials said the child was then transferred by helicopter to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Her condition there was not immediately available Sunday morning.
Delavan is about 40 miles southwest of Milwaukee.
Saw this earlier on TMJ’s website.
Praying for the child.
Yes, and hoping the monster who did it is one of the bodies they found inside.
We all are. Rockford Memorial has an excellent children's unit. She will be in the best of care.
The police chief (according to Fox, just now) has said no suspect is known to be at large.
Suspect isn’t known? It really sounds like a domestic thing. And why was the poor little girl alone in the car? I suppose we’ll hear the sad details as the day goes on.
No, that's not the way I understood the statement (it was delivered second-hand by a Fox commentator). "No suspect is known to be at large" (not a perfect quote) to me implies they suspect one of the dead was the killer.
Sounds like a “Bad Man Stagger Lee” kind of rampage.
Major outbreak of bad behavior, possibly fueled by alcohol, and traced to a history of mental disorder in the past.
Delavan is a quintessential “small-town” American village, not the kind of place you imagine such things could come bursting out. I had driven through this village of antique shops and small merchants, a number of times years ago, and I would expect the outward aspect of the town had not changed all that much since.
Prayers for the victims.
“...to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.”
Sorry so late, but I had to work today...no Freeping on Company Time...yet! Any update on the baby? If she had half a chance to survive, UW Hospital would be the place to go. My husband had two spinal surgeries there and those people know their stuff.
Prayers up, either way.
“...and I would expect the outward aspect of the town had not changed all that much since.”
It hasn’t. It’s a lovely part of our state. I’m with you. Murder/suicide due to some untreated mental disorder would be my first guess, but I’ll sit tight and await more details, too.
Sadly, the creeps from the Chicago-Land area are now killing their undesirables and drug mules, then driving up to rural Wisconsin to dump the bodies. Kinda stupid, actually...every land owner in this STATE knows every INCH of his/her property and a body will easily be found by a land owner or a hunting dog walking their land.
Also meant to tell you that I got your “Nick Cave” reference, LOL!

twin infant boys among the dead.

Hispanic (21.2%)
Other race (10.7%)
Two or more races (2.7%)
Black (1.1%)
American Indian (0.9%)

“The father of the children, 22-year-old Ambrocio Analco, was among the dead, said Marco Pastrana, Analco’s cousin. He said the twin boys were 2 to 3 months old.”
Some sort of gang-related hit? Drug dealing gone bad? We had gang-bangers shooting up my ‘Wisconsin Cow Town’ of 6,000 summer before last. In a residential neighborhood near a school and a church. In broad daylight, with little kids playing in the street and in their yards.
“Life” means absolutely nothing to some people. *SIGH*
See post 16.
THIRTY THREE shells found at the crime scene in my Cow Town. They recently put the last of the three Asian gang members responsible in prison.
It certainly isn’t the Amish causing these problems. ;)
The DA said this morning it was a “domestic” squabble:
DA: Shooting that left six dead was due to domestic dispute
Six people, including twin infants, shot dead Saturday
By The Associated Press
Walworth County District Attorney Phillip Koss says a Delavan shooting that left six people dead was due to a domestic dispute.
Twin infants are among the six people shot dead last night inside a Delavan home. The shooting also wounded a two-year-old girl found in a nearby minivan. She is serious condition.
Authorities have issued a statement saying they don’t believe anyone else is in danger.
But the district attorney says no one is in custody and he doesn’t think police are looking for anyone — but he wouldn’t say whether the shooter is among the dead.
He says they are getting information from a male family member who escaped at the time of the shooting. He didn’t know if the man is injured.
Kay Macara says one of the victims was her 19-year-old daughter, Vanessa Iverson. She says her daughter went to the building to visit friends.
Iverson’s sister-in-law, Sarah Iverson, says also there at the time of the shootings were twin infants, the children’s mother, the children’s father, and the mother’s sister and her husband.
Marco Pastrana says the three children’s father was his cousin, 22-year-old Ambrocio Analco, and police have told him Analco was one of those who died. He says the twins are two to three months old.
