Salazar: Immigration bill may return in July
The Denver Post ^ | June 8, 2007 | Elizabeth Aguilera

Posted on 06/08/2007 12:39:37 PM PDT by Daralundy

An immigration reform measure that appeared to die in the Senate on Thursday could return next month, Sen. Ken Salazar, one of the measure's chief architects, said today.

At a press conference at his Denver office, the Colorado Democrat said Senators would turn their attention to the energy bill next week, but that he is hopeful they will return to immigration reform in July.

"Failure on immigration reform is not an option," he said. "For this Congress and Washington not to deal with immigration reform is an abdication of responsibility."

If action is not taken now, Salazar said, immigration reform may have to wait up to five years

"Failure on immigration reform is not an option," he said. "For this Congress and Washington not to deal with immigration reform is an abdication of responsibility."

And non-enforcement of borders isn't????

Fixed that. Their kind of "reform", we do not need. Close the borders first and then talk.

They passed a bill last year and it was signed. None of the provisions have been even close to fully enforced.

“It’s dead, Jim.”

Salazar’s political future? One can only hope!

This ‘man’ was selected by the Dims to give a response to one of the President’s radio addresses.

Salazar gave the response in Spanish !

If we think this is annoying, wait until the country is full of illegals, each clamoring for his rights and benefits within the new immigration amnesty laws. I don’t have the whole summer off, but I’m with you anyway.

Huh... why? Assuming it's true, it would be interesting to know what political factors would cause such a delay. Sounds like a scare tactic to me.

Sen. Ken Salazar, one of the measure's chief architects

Ken needs to realize that he was hired by the people of Colorado,
not La Raza/Azlan Reconquistadors nor MEChA.

This is not over yet. They won't give up this easily. They will resurect it and call it something else. We have to keep our guard up. STAGE TWO is to go after the people who hire illegals. Start giving them fines and arresting them. just catch ten or 100 of them on the nightly news. The magnet will dry up and most of the 12 million will go home by themselves.

As an adendum, we should anonymously call the IRS, people working "off the books" means taxes ain't being paid. Make anonymous fliers and hang them around the neighborhood, name names. It's time to embarras these bustards, whether they give to the GOP or Rats, we don't need them.

Ken, you guys have abdicated your responsibility since 1986. Build the fence, then have your girl call my girl and do the lunch thing with a real senator, Sessions.
And we’ll think about it.

You are assuming you mean anything to the Congress. To far too many members of the Congress, the People are irrelevant. Remember that McCain-Feingold was passed, and upheld by the Supreme Court, in order to prevent the People from corrupting the Congressional incumbents.

We need a bounty on illegals and those who hire them. Turn in an employer who hires illegals and make $5K for every successful prosecution. $100 for every illegal turned in. Open season and no limit.
