US FAA votes Windows Vista down and is interested in Linux+Google
Washington, USA - Double defeat for Microsoft
The US FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) is refusing to install Windows Vista, the new operating system developed by Microsoft, on the 45,000 computers used at its offices.
The decision made by FAA followed an accurate evaluation of update costs generated by the new installation, for example taking into consideration the 1G RAM requirement.
However, this choice does not seem the most alarming one: in fact, almost apparently, the US authority is seriously evaluating the possibility to completely abandon the Microsoft system and choose the concurrent Linux+Google one.

Probably a cascade failure of the Windows-based system...
Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue.
I’ll be in the shower...
My x-husband hated, hated to fly to California. They lose radar and other systems there rather frequently. He told me one time that he sat on the tarmac so long it began to seem easier just to find a job and move the family as opposed to getting back home again.
Doesn’t happen on the East coast nearly as often.
All computers are subject to failure.
Check the RadarRange........

FAA Computer Problems Force Departure Delays
(CBS) NEW YORK CBS 2 HD has learned the Federal Aviation Administration is experiencing computer problems in departure planning, forcing numerous departure delays at airports nationwide.
Airports are apparently being forced to manually plug in flight information in order for planes to depart. It is not yet known how long delays could last for.
Peter Mertz, a New York City resident, was on board Spirit Air flight 313 to Detroit and said he had been sitting on the tarmac at La Guardia Airport for nearly 90 minutes. By 2:45 he said the plane had begun to move slowly for takeoff, and that it appeared other flights were taking off again.
“We boarded at like 5 after [1 p.m.] and we didn’t even move out of the gate until like 2, and then they said it was gonna be like an hour, but they’re taking off now at least.”
