CLEVELAND (AP) -- Forty-three percent of Cleveland's public school seniors are flunking and won't get diplomas.
That means nearly 13-hundred of three-thousand seniors failed to pass one or more sections of the five-part state exam.
Students take the test in tenth grade and can retake it six times.
Statewide, the failure rate was seven percent, or nine-thousand students out of 130-thousand seniors across Ohio.
The Cleveland district was put under mayoral control after years of court supervision because of high student failure rates and mismanagement.
At least the ‘Cavs’ are doing great!!!.../s
How did this writer and editor pass?
How’s their self-esteem?
The mistakes by the lake!
They are working on their next wave of basketball stars.
Probably it’s ripped off the teleprompter.
And the Cuyahoga hasn't spontainously combusted lately either.
It’s all the fault of Bush, the white man, slavery, 400 years of oppression, etc. etc.
Meanwhile, refugee immigrants coming here from Africa (who in many cases already speak two languages) will learn grammatically correct English and go on to become lawyers and doctors or enter other professions—because nobody ever told them that their only role in life was to be career victims.
"130-thousand seniors across Ohio."
I bet you they could read a basketball scoreboard though.
Newsflash to the Cleveland Public Schools:
95% of that 43% aren’t gonna graduate no matter how much money you pump in the schools. Why? BECAUSE THE STUDENTS DON’T GIVE A RATS A$$! Why? Because they grew up in households where Dad wasn’t around, and Mom’s a whore with a new man every week who snorts coke. She makes a few bucks dancing in bars, and never instills any sense of value in her children.
THAT is the problem with schools. Well, that and the insane liberal teaching methods, but that, honestly, is a different subject. My comments above outline the difference in graduation rates between districts and between urban and suburban environments.
If the ‘Cavs’ win it all—it will be higher than ever. /s
Good - at least, they’re trying to get them to go back and try to learn something.
This is because there are no questions about 'An Inconvenient Truth' or text messaging on the state exam.
“That means nearly 13-hundred of three-thousand
How did this writer and editor pass?”
Chronologically, he was moved from year to year because of the edumacator’s favorite doctrine of ‘chronological advancement’.
For those not being members of a teachers union, ‘chronological advancement’ means “another year older, another grade above, on the long the road to functional illiteracy”.
I’m sure that the math questions are white-biased also. I bet there are none that are race neutral like, “LaBron is 6 for 12 from the field and 3 for 4 from the foul line. How many points does LaBron have”?
I can gurantee that if you went into the hood and brought up the subject of Al Gore and An Inconvenient Truth, the vast majority of kids wouldn’t have the slightest idea of what you were talking about.
Hell, thats the ‘good news’.
The bad news is 100% of Cleveland’s seniors live in Cleveland....(chuckle)
