The Basque terrorist group ETA has announced today that they will act in all fronts beginning midnight June 6th, central European time, thus officially ending a cease fire, the facto broken last December with the killing of two men from Ecuador in the Barajas airport parking bombing.
Since 3/11, ETA has enjoyed a privileged treatment by the Zapatero government, foreign ones and the media, in which it was called the peace process, even though extortion, street terrorism and rearming continued. Among those privileges were leaks from the Spanish police that thwarted an operation to arrest its leaders, carried by French antiterrorist judge Levert.
ETA is the main suspect as perpetrator of the 3/11 attacks as rests of the explosive only used by them, Titadyn, have recently been found in samples taken from the explosion scenes in the trains.
for all time, ‘going spanish’ means to squeal like a teenage girl in the face of terrorism
There is no time to squeal when they shot you in the head or detonate 30 kilograms of Titadyn in front of your business.
The message of the Zapatero government is “if you kill enough of our citizens in an outrageous enough way, we’ll proclaim a ‘peace process’ where there is no peace, at least until you want something new and kill some more of our citizens. Then you pass Go, and start the process all over again.”
Good, but I am afraid, sanchmo, the truth is far worse. I suspect the message was “we need a three digit figure of deaths to win the National Elections. After our victory, we will give up to most of your demands in a way disguished as a “peace process”.”
The problem is that ETA does not want “most”, but ALL, and now can blackmail the Socialist party with revealing the truth about 3/11.
That is, ETA simply needs a fax machine to sink Zapatero’s government and its party.
God help you guys. It usually doesn’t take long to find out how ETA ends its ‘truces.’
We’ll see, tanuki. We had a “truce” that wasn’t such, and now we might have a “war” that it is not one either. Some political analysts say here in Spain that the rupture between ETA and the Socialist government has been quite “cordial”.
You know, the Socialist party faces National Elections in nine months, and they were losing a lot of support because their knelling-down before ETA, when it was clear there was not a truce and that the explosives used in 3/11 fit the ones used by that terrorist group. Now they are free to “play” a stronger stance, but conversations may proceed secretly, with again as in 3/11, concessions after the next National Election.
Sadly, Spanish political life has been, since 3/11, or even before, a deception over a deception over a deception
