The judge will try to force President Bush’s hand to give a pardon before his term ends if he’s going to give one.

You may be right. It would certainly emphasize the outrageously political nature of the case.

The judge is probably still POed at the fact that Libby’s lawyer indicated Libby would testify but then reneged.
