Margaritaville Casino & Resort Coming To Biloxi

Margaritaville, in partnership with Harrah’s Entertainment, is proud to announce plans to build a new Gulf Coast destination: the Margaritaville Casino & Resort on the shores of Biloxi. When completed in the spring of 2010, the resort will feature 798 rooms, a full-service spa, a pool/deck area with cabanas, bar and tropical landscaping, all on 46 acres of land south of U. S. Highway 90.

Said Jimmy Buffett, “I have always considered myself a Gulf Coast kid. I was born there, grew up there and jumped on a stage for the first time there, before hitting the road. I have seen the world, traveled to distant shores, written a few songs and lived a few tall tales along the way, and now it is good to be coming back home.

“I have seen the best and the worst of times along Mississippi Sound, and as a survivor of storms myself, I feel an enormous sense of gratitude and good fortune to be part of the re-birth of the region by joining forces with Harrah’s to bring the Margaritaville Hotel and Casino “Down around Biloxi”.

“One of the essential elements of life along the Gulf Coast is the Creole belief that hard work and good fun go hand in hand. So, with that in mind I say, “Let’s get to work and let’s let the good times roll again."

I know there are some here who differ with Jimmy's politics, but this is a great business venture, and it shows how can-do Mississippi is completely eclipsing can-whine Louisiana in the hurricane's aftermath.

Fins up!

When I consider someone like Jimmy Buffet I thank God for making it so that everyone eventually dies. But I agree with you that this is a great business venture.

The thing about Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida...you could hit them with the worst possible hurricane...and they might take two or three years to rebuild...but they would. Population decrease in these states? Nope....people would move right back. As we all keep saying...New Orleans was special from day one...and will continue to be special. The idea of building a city up to nine feet under sea-level...is pure stupid. You wouldn’t find this kind of thinking in Mississippi.

Isn’t it amazing how the MSM drumbeats almost daily on New Orleans’ plight, but says nothing about how the Mississippi Coast has not only come back, but is actively dreaming of the future?

Well, maybe it’s not so amazing ...

New Orleans was and is a “dependent class” — the Dems’ favorite. And with a cockeyed Mayor (and Governor) like they have, a rebuilding like Mississippi’s seems almost futile.

Right. The MSM has become useful in letting one know what not to be concerned with. Look at what they say, then look the opposite way.

The MS Gulf Coast in particular Biloxi/Gulfport will be the Las Vegas of the South within 10+ years.

Your comments regarding the differences b/w MS and LA are spot on.

MS has and continues to pull itself up by the bootstraps.

Hey! Be nice now. I’ve been a fan of Mr. Buffett and his music for 34 years. So are my children, grand children, parents, most of my friends and ex-wives. But no matter what your opinion of his politics one thing for sure is that Mr. Buffett is an absolute stone cold marketing genius. I still have the first copy of the Coconut Telegraph and have watch him expand his “Margaritaville” franchise from a far with admiration.
He’s making his millions but he’s also providing jobs and opportunities. What he has created and I’m sure continue to do IMHO is pure American capitalism at it’s best and I've enjoyed doing my little part.

A little known fact is that Mississippi is emerging as a first class state. It always was special to me, and now it is even more so.
