Unless the plotters were illegal immigrants. Frankly, I think this bolsters the case to close the borders.

I agree Excellence. Lachlan, after I wrote a response to your first post I came to realize that the breaking up of this plot would only bolster our position against illegal immigration. I guess we'll see how widely this is reported, and if ANYONE other than those who already see the problems will make the connection.
If we don't even know who is here quasi-legally (i.e. overstaying their visas), then how in the world can we feel secure in giving clearly illegal immigrants amnesty as prescribed in this new bill? 24 hours is not nearly enough time to check out validity regarding possible aliases, etc... I wonder if LEO's are on board with the 24 hr. background check part -- I can't imagine they are...

The 9/11 attack, The Fort Dix plot, illegals caught on an Arkansas Army Base, all of the robberies, rapes, and murders done by illegals, the TB incident, and other threats by illegal immigration haven’t convinced the government to close the borders. This will be downplayed and ignored by the leftist media, just like any other threat to the US. It looks like it will have to take a successful terrorist plot before real border enforcement takes place.

I agree, but it will noever be portrayed that wasy. The press is already minimizing the probably success of this attack, even if it had not been caught.
