From the picture in the article, it looks like he is a litle too old to be made a bishop, which is a shame.
It seems it’s either the old or the young priests that will speak up. At my University—a Catholic university—there are very few priests or religious that will stand up and vociferously defend life. To my knowledge, only one of the well-known (all students know him) priests will preach a sermon against abortion. The sad thing is he is very old...the years are catching up with him fast. I pray that when he is no longer able to preach, a young priest will take up his mantle.
Amen to that. And so what if he’s elderly, if he’s in good health, he obviously has the dedication, intellectual rigor, and energy. With the obvious few exceptions we all probably know by name, it seems the only true ‘Catholic’ priests in this country are over 80 or under 30.
