WASHINGTON, May 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture ordered nearly 80,000 birds ready for processing after recent tests showed they were unharmed by tainted pet food.

While the animals had been held on Indiana farms after ingesting pet food containing compounds such as melamine, testing showed the birds were safe for human consumption, an Agriculture Department news release said Friday.

The tests concluded the potentially dangerous chemicals in the chickens' feed do not accumulate in the animals' bodies. The birds' bodies actually dispose of the compounds quickly, minimizing the risk to humans, the department said.

The Department of Agriculture found that for a 132-pound person to be significantly affected by the compounds, they would have to eat more than 800 pounds of meat from the tainted chickens daily.

These two paragraphs contradict each other. One says there is no accumulation. The other says there is. ???

If I were pregnant, I certainly wouldn’t eat this chicken. Who knows what the effects will be on a developing baby. It is a shame that we don’t even know what is in our food. What good is the behemoth USDA if it can’t keep our food safe?

Hey, quit thinking, just eat it. The government says it's okay. What else do you want?

And how will we know if the chicken in the store is “this chicken?”

Just had a great idea-let’s sell the bad chickens to all of the mexican restaurants in this country. That way the illegal immagrant problem goes away.

And who is ultimately in charge of those bureaucrats?

So many sheeple who are easily led when there’s an (R) in office.

You mean the chickens grown in cages over the fish and shrimp pods, so the chicken crap feeds the other “livestock”?

“What good is the behemoth USDA if it can’t keep our food safe?”

They only get $1.2 Billion a year. That’s barely enough to keep the lights on. Fact finding trips to China are expensive you know.
