New Zealand Weatherman on Global Warming: 'It's All Going to be a Joke in 5 Years'

New Zealand Weatherman on Global Warming: 'It's All Going to be a Joke in 5 Years' Posted by Noel Sheppard on May 18, 2007 - 15:03.

The air continues to seep out of the global warming consensus balloon, ladies and gentlemen.

Meet Augie Auer, the former University of Wyoming professor of atmospheric science turned New Zealand meteorologist who isn’t buying what soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore and his band of not so merry global warming alarmists are selling.

As reported by the New Zealand Timaru Herald (emphasis added throughout):

Man's contribution to the greenhouse gases was so small we couldn't change the climate if we tried, [Auer] maintained.

"We're all going to survive this. It's all going to be a joke in five years," he said.

A combination of misinterpreted and misguided science, media hype, and political spin had created the current hysteria and it was time to put a stop to it.

"It is time to attack the myth of global warming," he said.

Unlike folks such as Gore, Sheryl Crow, Laurie David, and Leonardo DiCaprio, Auer has actually studied and taught this science. As such, he walks the walks AND talks the talk:

Water vapour was responsible for 95 per cent of the greenhouse effect, an effect which was vital to keep the world warm, he explained.

"If we didn't have the greenhouse effect the planet would be at minus 18 deg C but because we do have the greenhouse effect it is plus 15 deg C, all the time."

The other greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, and various others including CFCs, contributed only five per cent of the effect, carbon dioxide being by far the greatest contributor at 3.6 per cent.

However, carbon dioxide as a result of man's activities was only 3.2 per cent of that, hence only 0.12 per cent of the greenhouse gases in total. Human-related methane, nitrogen dioxide and CFCs etc made similarly minuscule contributions to the effect: 0.066, 0.047 and 0.046 per cent respectively.

"That ought to be the end of the argument, there and then," he said.

"We couldn't do it (change the climate) even if we wanted to because water vapour dominates."

Auer correctly concluded: "It's become a witch-hunt; a Salem witch-hunt."

Yes it has, Doctor. Unfortunately in this instance, the hunt is more serious because there are a lot more people involved, and the consequences far more dire.

And money is behind it. When the intelligence agency donates $47 BILLION to cause of global warming, it’s serious. That’s $47 billion taxpayer dollars to study the effect on the intelligence machinery. More likely it’s taxpayer monies that will be deposited into a very few special offshore private accounts.

Malden, MA currently 43 degrees. Feels like 35. I have played golf five times since the course was supposed to open on March 16 when we got a half a foot of snow.

I wonder if the idiots who are giving Algore his honorary PhD will want it back in a few years when this hoax is finally exposed for what it is?

Oh, Algore will have to receive a degree by the “honorary” route as he was, (is) too stupid to obtain one through the process the rest of had to.

It's all going to be a joke in five years," he said.

The poor prof doesn't understand that it's the seriousness of the charge, not the actual science that matters.

In the book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming, the author (Chris Horner) cites that the southern hemisphere has experienced only a .05 degrees Celsius per decade warming, a rate of increase discernibly different from the northern hemisphere.

Kind of takes the global right out of global warming. While climate variations are never linear, this equates to only a half a degree Centigrade over a century, if you want to play that game. Hardly catastrophic.

However, carbon dioxide as a result of man's activities was only 3.2 per cent of that

First let me say that human originated global warming is largely BS.

But currently CO2 is about 350ppm, in 1950 it was about 300ppm. That's an increase of 14.2% just there. We need to keep our facts straight or we're no more credible then the other side.

This article does a great job explaining the greenhouse effect and man made CO2 being such a small part of it. At an even higher level, other than greenhouse gases, there are dozens of other factors such as sun spots. If you take all the factors and do the math, the impact of man made CO2 is less than .01 % and we want to go ballistic over that. We could not change the global temperatures with our SUV’s if we wanted to !

Canned beans? STALE canned beans?

Hmmmmm....perhaps there's a hidden source of greenhouse gas that's not being taken into consideration...
