Sources: Senate GOP on Verge of Amnesty Deal (THEY BETTER KILL THIS AMNESTY BILL AGAIN)

Sources on Capitol Hill tell me the Senate may be very close to a deal on comprehensive immigration reform.
But as the immigration deal comes together, Senate conservatives are growing uneasy about the state of the negotiations, fearing that Republican leadership will sell out to the Bush Administration and liberal Democrats to give amnesty to illegal aliens.
The issue boils down to whether Senate Republicans leaders, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Conference Chairman Jon Kyl (Ariz.), will give Democrats a free pass to bring up the bill without ever giving Republicans a chance to review it. Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) is leading negotiations for the Democrats, and has so far negotiated a favorable deal for Democrats, according to sources close to the negotiations.

“...whether Senate Republicans leaders, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Conference Chairman Jon Kyl (Ariz.), will give Democrats a free pass...” Of course they will. Kyl is a stand in for McCain at this point, because McCain knows that playing a high profile role in the passage of this bill will be a dagger to the heart of his presidential hopes. McConnell’s point person on this issue is in the pro-open borders camp. I can only hope that Sessions and a few others can figure out a way to mount an effective filibuster.

Forget McConnell. He is my senator and is for this abortion of a bill. I have sent him countless e-mails and made many phone calls. The response is always the same, he feels it is good for America. I doubt that I will be voting for him next year.

Agreed! I called of office of my senators, one of which is running for president. I told them that he was dead meat if he voted for this bill. The other one is dead set against any amnesty!

The fact that Kennedy is anywhere close to this deal is BAD, BAD NEWS!!!
It is times like this that I just sit back in awe at the lack of power the people of this country have. This issue, if no other issue, has about 70% support of the American people. Most people, liberal or conservative, recognize that we need to close our borders FIRST. The fact that Congress does not see it this way after so many have voiced their concerns means that they do not legislate for our benefit. This Bill is for the benefit of some other devious plan.

“A motion to proceed is a procedural step to start debating the legislation. It would allow leadership to present a bill to the Senate with no time for senators to actually read the legislation.”
Ok, call me stupid, but how does one “DEBATE” legislation, if one has never READ the legislation?

I was thinking about this issue today and I just know that the Republicans will in fact sell us all out.
The Party doesn’t care one hoot about the base and what we want, they only want us to vote them in to office.

Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) is leading negotiations for the Democrats, Ted Kennedy is the reason immigration is such a mess. He started back in 1965 and its been downhill ever since and he's still leading the charge to increase the number of democrat voters. Why is he never held responsible for the damage he's done to this country thru the years is beyond me. He always gets a pass. Remember his "school bussing" crap.

Why is he never held responsible for the damage he's done to this country thru the years is beyond me. Maybe, but that was then and this is now. Bush and a sizable number of republican senators are the ones pushing this.

I was thinking about this issue today and I just know that the Republicans will in fact sell us all out.
Bush made it clear that he wants amnesty for illegals, going so far as to refer to them as "guest workers" and those who would help the Border Patrol find and return illegals as "vigilantes". We have only ourselves to blame - I remember quite a few FReepers were blown off back in '98 and '99 when they were saying that Bush would hurt us with his views on Mexico. It's just taking a lot longer than he would have liked.

I’ve been here LEGALLY for 7 years, if the illegals get amnesty, I want my citizenship the same time they get amnesty...

To: BMC1
I just emailed my Senators and Congressmen and reminded them of previous emails that I sent them(complete with name and address) stating that if the Republicans in the Congress and
Senate allowed amnesty in any form to pass,I would NEVER AGAIN VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN OF ANY SORT.

Immigration is not the most important issue facing this country. Fighting global Islam is the most vital issue of this day and the foreseeable future, and the Republicans are infinitely better at fighting the War on Terror than the demonrats. For all those threatening to bolt the party over amnesty, just imagine what this country will be like if Hillary takes the White House and has a Demonrat Congress to support her. Then we will really be in a heap of trouble.
