RAILING AT RUDY: KOCH VOWS TO WRECK EX-ALLY'S PREZ RUN
The New York Post ^ | May 13, 2007 | DAVID SEIFMAN City Hall Bureau Chief

Posted on 05/13/2007 11:08:47 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Ed Koch is willing to travel the country denouncing Rudy Giuliani if "America's mayor" wins the Republican presidential nomination .

"If I had to sum it up in a few minutes I would say he's a control freak - and the control is over your life," said Koch, 82, of his former political ally.

"The personality issue is very key."

Koch said the "most opportune time" for him to hit the campaign trail would be after Giuliani were to become the nominee, but "if organizations asked me to come, I certainly would try in advance of that."

Koch's anti-Rudy rhetoric and the longstanding animosity between the former mayors - the rift opened in 1996 - could be potentially disastrous for Giuliani in an important state like Florida, where many transplanted New Yorkers have fond memories of Koch.

Koch insists he doesn't harbor "any ill will against" Giuliani, the GOP front-runner.

"I thought he was a good mayor, but he wasn't a great mayor because he didn't like people," Koch told The Post. "He wouldn't meet with people he didn't agree with . . . that's pretty crazy."

Instead, Koch is backing Hillary Clinton for president, but he insists that's not why he's going all out against Giuliani.

"It has nothing to do with that," Koch said. "He was imbued with the thought that if he was right, it was like a God-given right. That's not what we need in a president. We need a strong president, but somebody who listens."

Koch said he "never forgave" Giuliani after he ended the system for selecting judges for criminal and family courts - a system Koch began and David Dinkins continued. That January 1996 break is detailed in Koch's 1999 book, "Giuliani: Nasty Man," which is being re-issued this month.

"The enemy of mine enemy is my friend" is an old saying that sometimes proves true. I do know that Mayor Koch, like Senator Joe Lieberman, supports our president on the war on terror and other foreign policy subjects, although he is very liberal on social issues.

I agree with his characterization of Guiliani. The man simply can't tolerate different views - in this case, views coming from conservatives.

The dems claim that President Bush is a “dictator” or a “tyrant”, wait ‘til they help elect Rudy or Hillary and see what a real dictator looks like. We must not let either one of these individuals near the White House!!

Not the same thing. Liberal Republicans tend to be more honorable than that. Not always, but generally.

BS! A liberal is a liberal, no matter what letter they place after their name. They can't be trusted.

You call Rudy Giuliani honorable. I call Rudy a despicable and repugnant creature.

I don’t care what you call him, because I don’t care what you think.

You know, it’s nice to see someone putting a value on the virtue of honor. It’s rare these days.

I say “these days” as a 20-something, but all you have to do is read the literature from yesteryear to see how it’s fallen out of favor.

We know where you stand. You consider Rudy an honorable man. Thats the difference between conservatives like me and RINO lovers like you.

I call Rudy Giuliani a scumbag!

He supported Cuomo over Pataki.

He was VERY CLOSE to dropping support of Republican Bob Dole in favor of Bill Clinton due to Dole’s opposition to the AWB.

Let’s not forget his divorces.

This man has little honor...at least to the Party and his family.

Reading between the lines, its obvious that anti christian bigotry is why 90% of American Jews vote donkeycrat.
