Informants scrutinized in Fort Dix case (barf alert)
Associated Press ^ | May 10, 2007 | GEOFF MULVIHILL

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - He railed against the United States, helped scout out military installations for attack, offered to introduce his comrades to an arms dealer, and gave them a list of weapons he could procure, including machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

These were not the actions of a terrorist, but of a paid FBI informant who helped bring down an alleged plot by six Muslim men to massacre U.S. soldiers at New Jersey's Fort Dix.

And those actions have raised questions of whether the government crossed the line and pushed the six men down a path they would not have otherwise followed.

It is an argument — entrapment — that has been made in other terrorism cases, and one that has failed miserably in this post-Sept. 11 era.

One defense attorney on the case, Troy Archie, said no decision has been made on whether to argue entrapment, but based on the FBI's own account, "the guys sort of led them on."

Rocco Cipparone, a lawyer for another one of the defendants, said he will take a hard look at "the role of paid informants and how aggressive they were in potentially prodding or moving things along."

The Fort Dix Six were arrested earlier this week after a 15-month FBI investigation that relied heavily on two paid informants who secretly recorded meetings and telephone conversations in which the suspects talked of killing "in the name of Allah."

They always side with the entrapee. Strange how an informant can turn a church social into a terrorist organization.

If Mohammed Atta and his little depraved band of terrorists had somehow survived their own attacks on 9/11, you can bet there would be some hybrid mutants of the ACLU and CAIR and who-knows-who-else that would have been out there soliciting contributions for the ‘Misunderstood al-Qaeda Defense Fund’.

This attitude derives from the fact that many still don’t believe there’s a war against us.

How dare the media characterize the informant as anything but a hero. Was 9-11 that long ago?

During World War II, these terrorist punks would get a quiet military tribunal and a quick date with the firing squad or the hangman. It is past time we put the same resolve into winning this war.

Oh, PLEASE. If I were a drinking woman, this would get me started for today.

You have to wonder whose side the MSM is on?

Typical media. The US Government says something and it's a lie till you prove it to them.

Osama says the moon is made of green cheese and the media goes out and buys crackers.

"Journalists" are the bottom of the barrel.

I don’t think this is the right case to argue about entrapment and government enablers. Entrapment IS an issue that need be addressed but not in regards to something as critical as terrorism.

When it is an issue: For a while, the biggest ecstacy dealer in town was working for the police. She would supply wholesale quantity and have her retailers arrested, often after they had a chance to distribute the majority of the drug.

Who knows what happened to the profit margins.

“Scrutinized”, “raises questions” . Yes and the sources are the terrorists’ defense attorneys. The AP must be on retainer to them.
In fact these guys came to the government’s attention with a DVD showing Islamists involved in gunplay while shouting their bloodcurdling war cries. People are not “led” to participate in plots to kill American soldiers. The six people arrested are terrorists and today’s AP is no more than a traitorous press agent for terrorists.

You have to wonder whose side the MSM is on?

Remember that famous forum years ago when Mike Wallace and Peter Jennings made it clear they're not on our side and would not warn our troops of an impending attack?

For the entrapment argument to work in court, v. the media, the defendant needs to have been innocent and not predisposed in any way to have committed the crime until the government agent, in effect, talks him into it. Based on what I have read thus far, the thugs involved in this case were way beyond “predisposed” but already actively engaged in planning before the government agent infilitrated them. The AP, of course, couldn’t be bothered to check with an independent lawyer but parroted the defense line.

Whew! I thought I was alone on my views regarding entrapment. Like you I think it really is a iffy sort of thing in some cases. But not this one. Terrorism and chat room trolling pedophiles are always a slam dunk in my view

Well of course the MSM and libscum are going to side with the terrorists. After all, they share the same enemy: US servicemembers. /spit

And to answer the poster above in 3 who wondered if 911 was really so long ago, remember that many MSM and leftscum really feel that Bush was behind the attack. In other words, they don`t believe that Islamic extremists commit terrorust acts.
