'John Doe' protections urged for Fort Dix tipster

The New Jersey store clerk whose tip led to the arrest of six terror suspects needs legislative protection from being sued as a "John Doe" or whistleblower, lawmakers said yesterday.

"The events in Fort Dix are just another reminder of the need for this legislation," said Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican and author of legislation to protect "John Doe" passengers being sued by a group of Muslim imams for reporting their suspicious behavior that got the imams removed from an airline flight.

"We owe a debt of gratitude to this individual for alerting authorities to this potential terrorist attack and thwarting what could have been a terrible disaster. I can only imagine how grateful the men and women at Fort Dix and their families are for the courage of this person to take action when he saw something suspicious," Mr. Pearce said.

U.S. authorities arrested six foreign-born Muslims suspected of plotting to attack the New Jersey fort and kill "as many American soldiers as possible ... in the name of Allah." The FBI was alerted to the group by a clerk at the Circuit City store who had been asked to copy to a video disc images of the men test-firing weapons in the mountains and calling for jihad.

"If we didn't get that tip," said U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie in New Jersey, "I couldn't be sure what would happen."

Yes, very good...so the poor person doesn’t get sued or worse like those passengers on that jet.

About 10 or 12 years ago there were some pictures floating around the web from a real life "dumb criminal" story. A biker dude and this chick living in a trailer with another biker dude who was married to the chick killed him and sawed up his body on the trailer floor. They took pictures of the sawing up process, including pictures of themselves holding saws and knives. They also took pictures of funny scenes they composed, like the guy's head, hands, and feet on a recliner watching "All In The Family" on the TV.

They took the roll of film to a store to have it developed. The cops were manning the film counter when the biker doofi came back for the prints. Duuuuuuuuhhhhhh.

You wouldn’t need another damned “law” if law enforcement simply did it’s job.... and didn’t let these wanna-bee terrorists go fifty effing times!

They are probably pissed they got cought before the act because now they can’t blame Bush. These terrorists were just going to kill military folks, and I know the rats don’t give a damn about them anyway.

No, it goes much deeper than that. Dick Morris had a lucid moment on O’Reilly last night (if its not Clinton related, his expertise is pretty insightful in my experience).

The MSM is downplaying EVERY ‘terrorist story’ since a week after 9/11, for the simple reason if the American people are worried about terrorism, they vote GOP.

Thats why Bush experienced an unusual occurence in 2002, gaining seats in both Houses.

The MSM, being 80% plus Democrat, doesn’t want that to be a factor. They want healthcare to be ‘the issue’.

I never thought I’d live to see the things I’m seeing now. Would you have ever expected that the day would come that we would actually need this kind of legislation? We really shouldn’t. We should just know that nobody can be prosecuted for doing their civic duty. No judge in the land should allow such a thing in his/her court. They shouldn’t need a special law to tell them that. *sigh*

That’s how I felt when I read about this, too. Why should we even need to protect people for reporting a suspected criminal act? The world has gone mad.
