I respectfully don’t see where this is ‘breaking news’ but you da man....:) As far as I’m concerned his ‘views’ on abortion are not news at all. I haven’t been following all the candidates that closely and I have seen him state his views on this issue very clearly on several occasions.

Who would you rather see get the nomination? Realistically, (at this point in time) it would be Giuliani. I personally don’t have a problem with him stating he would ‘support’ the laws in place as they stand today. He has respect for our laws and to say anything different would be meaningless. We all know the only way to outlaw abortions is via the supreme court. So ‘if’ Guiliani is our nominee and ‘whoever’ is the dem nominee, who do we trust will make the more conservative appointment to the SC?

I know the issue of abortion is the single most important issue to some. However if I had to chose one single issue that will determine who I will vote for come Nov. ‘08 it is national security. Guiliani is the ‘only’ person in the race at this moment who I would trust with my whole being when it comes to this issue.

I know I will offend some taking this stance concerning this article. We all have differing opinions and I respect everyone’s opinion and beliefs but when it comes down to it are we willing to turn the presidency over to a liberal because we don’t agree with Guiliani respecting the laws that are currently in place?

Of course not -- but many social conservatives and libertarian conservatives aren't thinking in binary. They'll vote third party or stay home.

I have factored that in. In many Southern and Western states, 10-20% of those who voted for Bush in 2004 could stay home or vote third party without affecting the outcome.I think you're overly optimistic about Giuliani's chances.

I am not optimistic - I am realistic. If you ask me, many FReepers are far too pessimistic on Giuliani's chances. Most recent polls show he COULD win in the general election - or that it would be close. I'm not saying that he WOULD win. But he COULD.
