One thing I will never understand is how the NOW crowd can turn a blind eye to the kind of opression that Muslim women live under, and still spout that "every culture is equal" Liberal nonsense.

Truth is, when I was in the Navy in the 1980s I was deployed three time to the Persian Gulf and I NEVER saw any belly dancing in any of the countries I visited there.
I suppose that belly dancing is what America and the West wishes that the Middle East would be.

The biggest thing I’ve learned in taking classes from Arabic dancers etc is that being feminine is THE most important thing when dancing.
Saying “Well, she’s having to be sexy!” is an insult, because it means she has no other talent so she has to go for sexy over being a good dancer and feminine.
Sadly, thanks to MTV, I’ve seen a few videos where some dancers are imitating our hip hop moves and I hate that.

The women in them are dressed western, uber-glam gorgeous and clearly the ‘in charge’ ones in the songs.
It’s such a contrast to Sharia law that it’ll make your head spin. Granted, most of them are from Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco etc. The Gulf States tend to be viewed as backwards by the others.
BTW, there’s even a music video of Saddam’s hanging. :)
