So say they get their “living wage” of $10/hr. What’s to prevent the next communist mayor and city leaders to decide two years later that a much better living wage would be $40/yr?

Easy. The good workers would up-sticks-and-move to a more worker-friendly place where Good Service is valued and rewarded. Nobody will work for $40/yr after all, no matter how much you like the job. The affected businesses will begin to go belly-up. Many will close. Resultant taxes will not be collected. Social programs will not be funded as a result. Customers and business owners will object to their pollies because it is *they* who have caused this mess. Pollies will get voted out.

The Free Market takes care of its own, as it always has.
