How Much Money Does Congress Go Through in an Hour?
Fox News Channel ^ | 5/5/07 | By Brit Hume

Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee are complaining Democrats on the panel are cutting money for intelligence operations involving Iraq and radical jihadists in the latest budget... but at the same time ordering the intelligence community to produce an official National Intelligence Estimate in the next few months on the impact of global warming over the next 30 years. Democrats say global warming could have a serious impact on military operations and global tensions. But Republicans say it's a waste of money and resources... and that other parts of the government are already working on the issue.

The Wall Street Journal's Online page reports The World Bank has refused to allow the girlfriend of bank President Paul Wolfowitz to tell the public her side of the controversy about her transfer from the bank to the State Department.

The World Bank is so thoroughly corrupt that I suspect this non-issue will bring Mr. Wolfowitz down.

I wonder if this is net of Government Sponsored Enterprises, which are used to hide debt?

The “don’t look if you are already sick of the members of both Houses of Congress being under the delusion that we are made of money” ping.

They already decide just how much of our money we are to be allowed to keep and many of them think that it is still too much.

Here in Ohio, when the schools need more money, it goes on the ballot. If the initiative fails, the first thing the schools do to cut expenses is stop busing the children. Thereby causing parents to get out and vote when they bring it up again in a special election. I would suggest that all travel expenses by the Congress be cut until they can get a balanced budget passed.

I’d like to know what the average Congressmoron spends, including own salary, staff salaries, cost of their retirement and medical benefits, travel, entertainment, etc, etc. How much does it cost us taxpayers for the average seat in Congress? Anybody know?

Just think, nearly all of that health and human service part could be cut, and the country would be far better off.

“Just think, nearly all of that health and human service part could be cut, and the country would be far better off.”

Ah, but those hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars are the “walking-around money” that politicians use to buy votes from their dependent constituents, thus ensuring that they stay in office. This bribery with our money will ultimately bring our failed democracy to an ignominious end, which is precisely why the founders established a republic, rather than a democracy.

Having the House Intelligence Committee make a report on Global Warming is a complete waste of time and money. They are totally off the intelligence reservation with this. The real global warming will come when someone detonates a nuclear device in a large urban area because our “intelligence” committee was too busy pushing their ecological agenda and not focused on their duty to oversee intelligence gathering.

As far as I can tell, the Intelligence Committee is an oxymoron.

Wouldn’t it be nice if these presidential candidates would refund their salaries. Actually it would be nice if they all declined their undeserved salary increases. Their salaries should be inversely proportional to their ability to reduce spending. Nobody in government should be allowed to set their own salary.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t McCain in SC campaigning for support of the troops when the vote to not do that was passed in the Senate? Silly me; I thought he was paid to actually vote for or against these issues, not just talk about them.

we don’t know the special prefix which is the “Lack of” Intelligence Committee. Isn’t Slow Joe Biden on it? He should be—he was 76 out of 85 at Syracuse Law.

Golly, you mean to tell me that there were 9 lawyers lower than slow Joe. Now that IS a scary thought.

[Hope they didn’t go into government, too.]
