Imus comment that both CBS and MSNBC could have prevented his ‘nappy-head’ remarks from actually going out over the airwaves is in fact, a powerful argument.

The fact that neither party even attempted to hit the delay switch which would have put a few seconds of dead air out there instead of Imus’ words, is going to be hard to explain, IF this actually ends up goint to trial.

I suspect that at some point, CBS will choose to settle out of court. If Garbus took on this case, he already knows CBS is on shaky legal ground.

Hey, a great week for CBS eh? Katie Colon has almost a 50 percent unfavorable view from the public, her numbers continue to lag in 3rd place, and now CBS is getting hit with legal action by Imus.

‘No joy at Black Rock’, and it couldn’t happen to nicer folks. :)

I bet they never used the delay switch on Imus or McGuirk.

Not only that- but let’s remember it was the lunatics at Media Matters that narc’d on Imus in the first place- it was one of their guys who started calling Rutgers, Sharpton etc...

Otherwise, this would NEVER have received attention...

Take a look at the John Rocker incident - his insensitive remarks made in an auto driving up I-95. Rocker an SI report and another individual were driving up the east coast and SI chose to report what Rocker said. Prior to publication two people, at most, could have been offended by his remarks. Publish it in sports illustrated and, with the attendant regurgitation by the res of the media, everyone on earth is aware of it. Who has caused the greater damage, Rocker expressing his allegedly racist views in the presence of two others, or the media with its enormous megaphone, spreading the comments to the entire world?

I never listened to Imus and only watched a few minutes of his program on MSNBC - but I hope he takes a chunk out of the hide of CBS for caving in to th likes of Sharpton.

If they tried to sell a quality product rather than a biased point of view they wouldn’t have these problems.
