No doubt some would, Bush Derangement Syndrome being what it clearly is.

But by remaining ‘on vacation’ it gave his detractors a free pass to smear him over it, and it continues to this day. It was a political mistake, it was a bad decision.

When a President is told in the future “Sir, a Class Five (or four) Hurricane is about to hit a Major US City’ I guarantee you if that President is ‘on vacation’ he’ll abruptly end it and return to Washington DC.

I suspect you realize this is true.
