PICTURE: Ad hoardings reveal Indias competitive streak
An email circulated between airline staff purports to show just how far Indias airlines are willing to go in the battle for passengers.
The email includes a photo of a Jet Airways advertising hoarding bearing the tagline Weve changed in a bid to woo travelers aboard.
In an apparent game of one-upmanship, rivals Kingfisher erected a similar hoarding above the Jet Airways advert claiming We made them change.
Not to be outdone, both adverts are trumped with an announcement by carrier Go Air which claims: Weve not changed were still the smartest way to fly.
Good for them. Too bad doing the same thing here in the US would garner you a lawsuit for restraint of trade or libel or something. There are a lot of businesses that could definitely stand to have a little more direct competition.
On a completely different note, is it just me, or does the logo for Kingfisher airlines look like it belongs on the label of a microbrew beer?
Now I'm wondering if that photo isn't a hoax.
Both the beer & airline belong to one company-the UB(United Breweries) group. The beer came first & made it popular,so they decided to apply it to their airline as well.
Someone’s getting advertising bang for thier buck, and it ain’t the bottom billboard.
Ok, cool. So, an airline run by a beer company...I suppose it can’t be any worse than an airline run by a record company or a chicken wings restaurant.
Hoarding?
I'll never understand why Hooters Airline didn't 'fly.'
It’s done pretty well so far since it’s entry 2 years ago & is giving a pretty tough fight to Jet Airways(domestic market leaders) & Indian, the state-run domestic carrier.Kingfisher has used pretty competitive pricing & promotion & is trying to fasttrack it’s entry into the international market buying up A-330s,340s & even 2 A-380s.
Kingfisher uses ramp models as flight attendants on some of it’s promotional flights!!
