Excerpt -

BAGHDAD, May 3 (Reuters) - U.S. and Iraqi forces have killed the head of the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq, an al Qaeda-led militant group that has claimed many major attacks in the country, Iraq's deputy interior minister said on Thursday.

Hussein Kamal said Abu Omar al-Baghdadi had been killed in a battle north of Baghdad. He declined to say when but said authorities had recovered Baghdadi's body.

"Abu Omar al-Baghdadi was killed north of Baghdad by Iraqi and American forces. He died as a result of wounds sustained in clashes. The Interior Ministry has his body to carry out further checks," Kamal told Reuters by telephone.

U.S. military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Garver declined to comment but said a news conference would be held later on Thursday to announce the "success" of an operation against Sunni Islamist al Qaeda.

Syria must be very unhappy with Nancy not getting us to surrender yet.

Muhammad just told me they need to cool it. There is beginning to be a serious shortage of virgins, and he doesn’t think he can meet the quota much longer. Even the goats and sheep are starting to get nervous.

They are falling like flies.

I hope...

Any news on Al-Masri?

And what was the relationship between the two?

And what was the relationship between the two?

According to the Reuters article, they were both members of the "Islamic State in Iraq" terrorist organization. al-Baghdadi was the top leader, and al-Masri was the "war minister".

If this keeps up the Scrapple piece from yesterday is going to become a reality:

“Dems Demand a Halt to killing Terrorist Leaders” (or something to that affect)

After al-Zarqawi was toe tagged, al-Masri and al-Baghdadi were the leading candidates to replace him.

Although, as leader of the Shura Council, al-Baghdadi could technically be considered Zarqawi’s boss.

Basically it’s the two highest leaders of al-Qaeda in Iraq dead in the past few days.

...but Harry Reid says the war is still lost.

I have to wonder if the events are somehow connected. It is possible that al-Baghdadi was located through intel obtained at the site of the al-Masri hit.

Even the goats and sheep are starting to get nervous.

Why, because their going to have to double up?

IT’s also worth noting these events come shortly after reports of a ‘civil war’ within al-Qaeda.

They’ve turned on each other in a big way.

Yeah,

It is good to read reports of the numero uno’s going down.

The reports about second in command terrorists being taken down got tiring after awhile :-)
