Conservatives for Hillary?
Real Clear Politics ^ | 05/01/07 | Bruce Bartlett

Posted on 05/01/2007 5:18:55 AM PDT by peyton randolph

As each day passes, it becomes increasingly clear that the Democrats will win the White House next year. It's not quite 1932, but it's getting close to a sure thing. All the energy is on their side, they are raising more money from more contributors, and there is little if any enthusiasm for the Republican candidates -- even among Republicans... At some point, politically sophisticated conservatives will have to recognize that no Republican can win in 2008 and that their only choice is to support the most conservative Democrat for the nomination. Call me crazy, but I think that person is Hillary Clinton.

“Call me crazy...”

Ok. Bruce you’re crazy.

“At some point, politically sophisticated conservatives will have to recognize that no Republican can win in 2008...”

Bruce, what, by chance, is a “politically sophisticated conservative”?

He sounds like a Republican Harry Reid, surrendering before the fight has even started.

Concede that the Democrats will win and throw ourselves on the mercy of Hillary Clinton? Good gawd: What a frightening thought.

Hillary as a conservative. What is this fool thinking?

“Politically sophisticated conservatives”. WEll, as long as nobody tells the rest of us that Rudy can’t win and most of us don’t stay home and sulk, we will win. Is the author of that piece just looking to attract attention, because if he is, I think he has done that. His opinions will be worth zip henceforth.

The Dem to support is Mike Gravel if there is one. He shares their views on surrender and health care, but is for a flat tax.

This dude’s counting his chickens before they hatch. For one thing the election is a year and a half away, for another, Rudy and McCain are ahead of both Clinton & Osama-Obama in many of the national polls. Thompson is doing well for an unannounced candidate.

It's interesting to see the desperate crap that Hillary's campaign is trying, since Obama came on strong. "Conservatives: you're not going to get one of your own in, so come support the Democrat that is really, deep down, most like you."

This assclown must have been sleeping during the Clinton administration to think we would ever do anything positive for that witch.

Hillary as a conservative.

The fact that Hillary is the most conservative Democrat running for the nomination is quite telling.

"Conservatives for Hillary?"

Fake "conservative" undermining real conservatism again. This fraud also wrote before the 2006 election an article titled "Bring on Pelosi", which said that a Democrat takeover of Congress would be good for the country.

Bartlett (like many conservatives) may be for free-markets but that appears to be his only loyalty.

At this point in 1987 it looked unlikely that Vice President Bush would be elected in 1988 either. It was no sure thing that Bush would even be nominated. But it was generally thought that no one could match President Reagan’s dynamism or that no other Republican would engender as much enthusiasm. We all know how that one turned out.

Having said that, it is true that 2008 will be an uphill battle. The “news” media of course are totally one sided now. At least back then there was some semblance of fairness. If a Republican wins in ‘08 it will be rather remarkable, but hardly a miracle.

I don’t know...I’d be tempted to vote for her, if she promised me that Bill would end up in Ft. Marcy Park right after the election.
