“Actually, I would say the steel was deformed into losing its ability to carry the weight of the freeway not melted like a steel smelter. However, the pictures tell the story of how an intensive gas fire can collapse a steel supported structure like a freeway bridge...or a skyscraper!”

Actually, secret agents were seen at this site only yesterday in anticipation of this crash. They must have planted explosives which were used to bring down the overpass. The crash and resulting fire was only a cover.

Somebody check that driver—I wonder what “Company” he worked for? This was obviously a distraction from Bush’s failed Iraq policies. /sarc

I agree that Rosie is a moron who apparently has never seen a blacksmith forging steel by heating it until malleable and then hammering it. But Rosie’s credentials as an ignoramus wee hardly in question.

I do wonder about these accidents and the ability of Al Quaeda to learn how a critical fire at a critical point in the transportation system can crate havoc.

Here in Atlanta we had a series of bridge jumpers (though, not lately) who were able to back up traffic for miles. Any terrorist watching that would have a perfect idea of how a low manpower force could concentrate casualties.
