Possible candidate Thompson opposes timetable for Iraq pullout
KSWO.com ^ | 4/27/07 | Associated Press

RVING, Texas Actor Fred Thompson said today that the top U-S general in Iraq convinced him that it's wrong to set a timetable for withdrawing from Iraq. Thompson says the U-S should leave -- quote -- "our terms and not al-Qaida's."

Thompson is a former senator considering a presidential run. Polls show Thompson is well-liked in a Republican field for 2008, but he deflected questions today about a White House run.

Thompson and former Senator Bill Bradley spoke to about 100 guests today at a professional golf tournament sponsored by Electronic Data Systems.

Bradley, a former presidential candidate, tweaked his former Senate colleague a couple times about the White House flirtation.

Thompson says the United States has made -- quote -- "a lot of mistakes" in the execution of the war. But he criticized congressional Democrats' plan to set a timetable for withdrawal.

Opposing time-table for withdrawal translates to opposing withdrawal it the minds of average public. The ones that liberal media is so easily able to manipulate.

FT should say I support withdrawal as soon as clearly defined objectives are met.

Otherwise withdrawal would be surrender and I oppose surrender.

Minor points but that’s the whole game.

It may be time for possible candidate Thompson to enter the fray or pipe down.

So far the best credential I have heard about Thompson is a pundit or two says he isn’t the hardest worker on the planet. They used to say that about Reagan.

Fred’s biggest obstacles are 1. his late start and no fundraising to date; 2. his cancer - it just sounds bad even if it’s a non-serious kind and 3 the fact that he looks pretty unhealthy to me at least. I was wondering if he had something wrong with him even before he announced his cancer.

But he’s an excellent candidate on his merits as a leader and as a man. I’ll probably vote for him, though I worry about the possibility his health might take a turn for the worse late in the general election campaign.

he isn’t the hardest worker on the planet

The hardest worker on the planet is probable buried deep in a mine shaft, or off in some turd world sweat shop.

I can honestly say I want neither as President. LOL

It may be time for possible candidate Thompson to enter the fray or pipe down.

He's rising in the polls without spending a dime. He is able to put his message out to a national audience without having to attack anyone. He is building even greater name recognition and creating a feeling of inevitability.

I think he knows what he's doing

Well, there’s my problem. The page I was using for the html left off the first “center”.

Thanks. :)
