I watched the Democrat debate yesterday evening, not so much to learn something new, but because I have the innate curse of enjoying political speeches, even if those speeches grind against the very pit of my soul in both substance and concept.
The majority of the debate uncovered no real surprises, but one particular answer to a question about drug testing sticks in my mind. The answer that Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd gave to a question about drug testing welfare recipients strikes hard at the very nature of the rampant disability and aggressive disease that infects the modern Democrat party, and it is downright frightening.
The question read like this: “Senator Dodd, this is from Joe, and he asked, "I have to pass a drug test to earn a paycheck. Shouldn't the welfare recipient have to pass one to receive a check, as well?"”

I think they should drug test all the politicians in Congress every quarter. Hell, our police and firemen have to get drug tested. Many companies require drug testing. If these people are going to run the country, they should get tested also. Many of them act like they are on drugs anyway.
My husband, a Marine, has to take a whiz quiz at least once a month. If he has to take one to be paid by taxpayer money, then so should welfare recipients. Why should they be exempt?

One reason not to drug test (I am serious) — it might be too expensive. This is not to say I think welfare is perfect or even warranted in the majority of circumstances. If you are on it, there should be a limit to the amount you receive, and you should have to find work within a defined amount of time.
The real question should have been:
If you already accept a public welfare check because you can't take care of yourself, should you be allowed to have additional children at further public expense?
Cut out welfare at the top first and trickle down free enterprise will do wonders. Eliminate welfare at the bottom last.
No to drug tests for welfare at the bottom.

Not really that expensive, about $200. Imagine how much money would be saved cutting off the druggies. The test cost is a worthwhile expense.
