Al Sharpton can personally apologize to the boys on his radio show and then fire himself...

See, there's where I disagree. As crazy as it may sound I believe that Sharpton, Moore, Franken, Garafalo, Jackson, Whoopie et al should be on the most high profile radio and TV shows there are and make sure that in each broadcast they loudly and distinctly identify them selves as democrats.

The important takeaway from today's official report:

(1) The supposed assault occurred on March 14 2006.

(2) 20 days later - April 4 - it was already obvious that Mangum's story was completely out of whack with the exsiting evidence.

The most important fact that is not in the report: On May 2, 2006, Nifong won a hotly contested Democrat primary election, by pandering to the black Democrat vote. He had no Republican opponent in the general election, so the primary was the only election.

"Nifong spent little money and appeared at few campaign functions throughout the campaign. But he was a daily presence on front pages and television through much of April as the investigation of the lacrosse team party dominated regional and national headlines. He eventually cut off media contacts but not before granting more than 50 interviews, many on live national television."

We've now two terminologies available to FReepers.

To lie and present or make up false information is to "Rather" a story.

Intentional disregard of fact and an attempt to frame the innocent is to "Nifong"

After a quick look through it looks like that report is extraordinarily lenient on Nifong and his investigators. Sure they had some “minor procedural errors” (my quotes) like not having fillers in the photo lineup and not taking proper notes during a follow up interview with the accuser. I didn’t see any mention of the cover-up of the lack of DNA evidence. The report comes down like a ton of bricks on the accuser and largely lets Nifong and gang skate on this.

"CGM Rathered her story so her victims would be Nifonged into prison."

Actually, hasn't the term been modified to "Fitzfonged"?

Let’s not drag a nonentity like Al Sharpton into all these cases where he somehow has attained a thoroughly undeserved iconic status Martin Luther King would never have DREAMED of demanding. Instead, Sharpton’s “reputation” is unwittingly bestowed on him by an idiotic media and a consortium of actual political players who use Sharpton as a political tool. What a farce, for idiots as diverse as Sharpton and Don Imus to find common ground, one offering penitential grovelling and apology, the other imperiously pretending not to “accept” his apology. This level of our political/social psychodrama is just that, an acting-out in some ongoing “therapy workshop”. But ya gotta love the sheer vacuity of it: SHarpton being given the “power” to publicly accept or reject symbolic offerings he in fact has no power to accept or reject. So let’s not invoke his name like he means anything at all. If this were a just world, he would just about getting out of jail right now, for the crimes he never even got CHARGED with.
