Musharraf says Karzai is losing war with Taliban

MADRID: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said the Afghan government is losing the war against the Taliban because of inaction, in remarks published in Spanish daily El Pais on Thursday. "Those who do nothing against terrorism, like [Afghan President Hamid] Karzai, are also the ones who criticize those who are fighting, like us," Musharraf told the paper. Musharraf and Karzai, two key allies of the US, are to meet in Turkey next week following Kabul's claims that Islamabad is either failing to tackle or is actively fostering a growing Taliban insurgency. "Those who say that the ISI [Pakistani military intelligence] helps the Taliban because we want a weak Afghanistan are liars," Musharraf said. "They say these things to hide their shame because they are losing the war against the Taliban." Pakistan's plans to fence part of the border have angered Afghanistan. Last Thursday Kabul said its troops had torn down some fencing and clashed with Pakistani soldiers

I am so sick of hearing Pakistan described as our friend. In truth, they may even be a bigger promulgator of terrorims than Saudi Arabia. The fact that they have nukes should cause of a lot of concern in DC, but instead seems to produce only shrugs.

The truth that no one wants to deal with is that the GWOT needs to be fought like WWII. Multiple threaters as once. As long as this enemy has sanctuary anywhere, he is winning.

from the very start the wildcard in the game was pakistan

while some may not agree, to me they are a problem

like democrats here at home, weak and timid friends with questionable loyalty are better deemed the enemy

it is past time to deal with all enemies, foreign and domestic, with extreme prejudice

When you pretend that enemy nations are your friends, you get into lots of trouble.

Well, at least it isn't only the United States that is losing the war.

If the war in Afghanistan is being lost, why wasn't a timetable put in on that theater also?

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf makes a truce deal with the Taliban in his country, and has the gaul to declare Karzai is losing the war in Afghanistan...

Hey Pervez! Just how well did your Pakistani Army do when it entered your own “tribal areas” the last few times? As I recall they left like whipped puppies.

Being that you’ve succeeded in doing nothing substantive against the radicals on your side of the border, you’ve got no room to be shooting your mouth off.

Now is just after 8pm here in SE Asia - Friday prayers did not go over well today in Islamabad and from what I hear elsewhere as well.

The situation is now changing very rapidly with calls for Musharaff to go now by Ustaz Abdul Rashid Ghazi.

The Chief Justice Chaudhry situation is now worse and Musharaff is trying to stop the media from reporting the details.

It ain't much longer till Pakistan falls and the ISI wont allow Bhutto back in unless she lets go of a lot of power.
