Baldwin says he wants out of '30 Rock'; NBC says no
April 26, 2007
Divorced dad Alec Baldwin, caught yelling at his daughter on a voicemail message, said yesterday that he asked NBC to let him out of his 30 Rock contract so he can devote his time to the issue of parental alienation.
If I never acted again I couldn't care less, Baldwin said in a pre taped appearance for ABC's The View, scheduled to air tomorrow.
The actor, in a transcript provided by The View, said that he also wanted to quit 30 Rock so the sitcom and the hundreds who work on it wouldn't be hurt by the situation.
NBC shot down the idea, saying the actor has become a key asset for the freshman sitcom.
A source close to the actor said Baldwin intends to fulfill his obligation to the show.
A tape of the message, where Baldwin berates his daughter saying she's a rude, thoughtless little pig for missing his call, was obtained by celebrity Web site TMZ.com and broadcast worldwide. The actor blamed his former wife for leaking the tape, which she denied.
Baldwin was interviewed on The View by Barbara Walters and Rosie O'Donnell.
Asked by Walters if he had spoken to his daughter since and how things stood, Baldwin declined to answer, citing ongoing procedures and so forth.
The next hearing on visitation issues is scheduled for May 4.
Replace him with Adam baldwin and maybe I’d watch the show.
He wouldnt be considering his old promise to move to france, would he?
That's the general consensus.
He’s got a show???
Didn’t his wife alledge physical abuse?
And now evidence of verbally abusing his daughter?
AND a publicly cheered death threat against Henry Hyde and his family broadcast on NBC?
The man is violently psychotic.
Sounds to me like he's honed his parental alienation skills into a science.
He’s actually quite funny on that show. I never thought I would say this, but he and Tracy Morgan completely make that show. Tina Fey is utterly useless (strange, given that she was pretty funny on SNL) and the other characters are marginal at best.
But Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan: very funny.
Let him check into a mental institution where he belongs.
He acts?
Yeah, Adam Baldwin is kick-ass AND has the added benefit of not being related to the Baldwin brothers.
Yep. It’s quite funny. Very un-PC.
After the Senate vote today, it will be crowded under that rock!
Too bad he couldn’t find the Lord like his Brother, Steven did!
devote his time to the issue of parental alienation
His case of parental alienation is self-inflicted.
I guess ABC couldn’t resist his Schwetty Balls.
If I never acted again I couldn’t care less, Baldwin said”
Funny how this works but I’ll bet most here feel the same.
I agree. I love Tracy Morgan, I laugh till I cry when he's on Jimmy Kimmel. And Alec is generally very good as an actor. Too bad he can't translate those skills into real life. I always thought Tina Fey was bitter and mean on SNL, kind of like most feminazis.
I had thought the show had been dragging a little bit for the past few episodes, but I thought last week’s show was hilarious.
When Baldwin saw the black guy in the wheelchair and said “Well played, Garkel,” I darn near busted a gut.
