What liberals don't understand about the Karl Rove / Cheryl Crow / Laurie David "controversy"

Posted on 04/23/2007 8:19:02 PM PDT by BornInASmallTown

It's only been a couple of days and I'm already sick of the "controversy" surrounding Karl Rove and his interaction with Sheryl Crow and Laurie David at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Maybe a few facts would get us back on the road to dealing with what really matters in this world. This is a manufactured "controversy," and it stinks of opportunism.

1). The White House Correspondents Dinner is an event in which people from the media and the world of politics gather for a meal, some entertainment, and networking with friends and associates.

2). "Global Warming" is what's commonly referred to as a "hot button" issue. There's virtually no common ground. People are either fully entrenched in the Al Gore camp or whatever the polar opposite of that is. People tend to have strong opinions. From where I stand, the jury is still out.

3). Democrats have never gotten over the fact that their victory laps over "Fitzmas" were premature. If Karl Rove jaywalks, they will call for the head of Karl Rove on a pike for jaywalking. Any opportunity to advance toward Rove with claws out is a cause for celebration among Democrats.

4). Sheryl Crow and Laurie David are entitled to their opinion, and it's admirable that they have committed themselves to their beliefs. However, not everyone shares their beliefs. To back Karl Rove into a corner at a social event and expect anything other than the reaction he displayed is childish, clueless, and irresponsible.

5). Messing with Karl Rove doesn't constitute "courage." It constitutes a willingness to mess with Karl Rove when the media is present and the Web is salivating for posts by Sheryl Crow and Laurie David whining about how Karl Rove is a "bully."

6). Discuss.

Most libs don’t understand their own names.....why would anybody think that they might understand something more complex?

I think "speak truth to power" BS has finally caught on as a fad.

One of my cats has been sick lately. I had to clean a lot of runny Crow out of the litter box.

What controversy? Anybody who can’t see that these two busy ditches were out of line is an idiot. Even alan colmes avoided defending them.

As soon as that moonbat Laurie David touched Rove, he should have had her charged with assault.

Can you imagine what would have happened the other way around?

Those two airheads were planning on Grandstanding with Rove before they arrived. Decency is not a liberal trait.

Perhaps Crow and David should invoke sharia(they are useful infidels)and use the third finger of their left hand in lieu of toilet paper..

Am I just getting old, or wasn't there a White House Correspondence dinner just a few months ago. I thought these were yearly events?

I know that I remember the president doing a very funny stand up routine where he said, "A year ago, my approval rating was in the 30s, my nominee for the Supreme Court had just withdrawn, and my Vice President had shot someone. Ahhh, those were the good old days."

...I looked it up -- my bad: It was the Radio and Television Correspondence Dinner.

Although, doesn't it seem our politicians get a bit too chummy with these guys -- and vise versa.

Last summer, a few producers and cast members from 24 were invited to the White House and got to meet Karl Rove. During their visit, Rove addressed actor Gregory Itzin (President Logan in seasons 4-5) as “Mr. President.” Itzin, a liberal, was SHOCKED by the gesture!

Too bad that story didn’t get much press.

Rove never invites women like me to these types of occasions.
It takes a bit of practice to apply the correct, small physical pressure, at just the right angle, to the very tips of the fingernails of someone who is...out of line.
Perhaps one of his bodyguards should teach him this technique.
The entire encounter would have been much more interesting, if Crowe was actually writhing in pain on the floor at his feet, while spouting her insane opinions at an inappropriate venue.
IMHO.

Why did Rove even give these broads the time of day. I would have simply flipped the middle finger at them.

I am reminded of those childish girls on the playground in grammar school whose occupations were to harass individuals that were the high achievers in their class because they were too dense to do anything truly intelligent.

These are two Saint Sheehen wannabes who hate the President and Rove like all good Limolibs. They knew they would get cover in that location.

"I think "speak truth to power" BS has finally caught on as a fad."

It takes a major leap in faith, or sheer idiocy to accept as fact - that any of those Hollywood "ACTORS" or celebrity "SINGERS" have any grasp on the FACTS related to such complex scientific issues as global climate - or could come to a logical conclusion even if the facts were presented....

"Truth" to most of those clowns -- is a "feeling" or "belief system" not a irrefutable FACT based on empirical proof.

I thought the same thing. Had KR touched grabbed one of their arms they would have screamed assault.

Karl is too smart for these girlies.

Shouldn't the official designation be Mrs. Laurie Larry David?

Um...that would be sanity

I don’t think that Mr. Rove, as Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House, rates Secret Service or other “bodyguard” type protection. Does anyone know more details?
