FDA knew for years of potential problems with spinach, peanut butter
The Seattle Times ^ | April 23, 2007 | Elizabeth Williamson

The Food and Drug Administration has known for years about contamination problems at a Georgia peanut-butter plant and on California spinach farms that led to disease outbreaks that killed three people, sickened hundreds and forced one of the biggest product recalls in U.S. history, documents and interviews show.

Overwhelmed by huge growth in the number of food processors and imports, however, the agency took only limited steps to address the problems and relied on producers to police themselves, according to agency documents.

Congressional critics and consumer advocates said both episodes show that the agency is incapable of adequately protecting the safety of the food supply.

I would actually ask the question -
Who has and controls the majority of jobs in all of these useless bureaucracies, liberals or conservatives?

Why are we spending money with this agency if it is not doing it’s job?

They are busy keeping small beef producers from testing for mad cow and crushing fresh milk sales.

Can’t do everything you know.

the agency is incapable of adequately protecting the safety of the food supply

So, instead of abolishing the FDA, and repealing the law that attempts to have the Feral Government micromange foods and drugs, the predictable response to the fact that a Federal agency is not competent to regulate will simply to be to require that it does what it does even more emphatically.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Well, please do consider those poor government employees who would be simply tossed onto the job market if 'their' agency was eliminated.

"Me! Me! Oh, Pick me!!"

That's what the spinache stalks said to me when I picked them. A boxfull fo $5. Long big ones for export out of state. They are being harvested this week, so I went to that coastal farm last week and gave the manager $5 for a box that must be worth $200 in a store wrapped up. Can them with a sprinkle of sea salt and bicarb.

I passed by another field of avocados you can get a boxfull for $5 that will be harvested next week. You can't either keep those or eat that many or you will get fat. You can pick a bunch of strawberries but how do you deal with them? They don't keep.

Do redheads keep:):):)

I am already concerned because they are working to bring about CODEX and take away our vitamins, etc., when they should be concentrating on a lot more important matters.

I don't think we even want to get into the conflict of interest in a lot of the drugs they approve.

Have no idea what to do with alvacados, but now strawberries is another issue...wash them, remove hull and turn into strawberry jam...or freeze them for latter use....for more strawberry jam or for topping on ice cream.
