"Mohammad Alavi, who worked at the triple-reactor Palo Verde power plant west of Phoenix, was arrested April 9 at Los Angeles International Airport when he arrived on a flight from Iran, authorities said."

Hrmm...Would I be alone in calling for a stiff penalty for him? Because that seems like treason to me...
This story smells like week old sushi
Why would that be?
Check the date he was arrested
4/9 was almost two weeks ago
I think there is way more here than meets the eye
In October, authorities alleged, the software was used to download training materials from Tehran, using a Palo Verde user identification.
Make that timeline
Also the man quit his job
Check that date too
1.The FBI said there's no indication the plant employee training software had any terrorist connections.
No, the SOFTWARE doesn't have terrorist connections; but what about Mohammad Alavi? 2. the software is used only for training plant employees, but allowed users access to details on the Palo Verde control rooms and the plant layout. In October, authorities alleged, the software was used to download training materials from Tehran, using a Palo Verde user identification.
3. The FBI said there was no evidence to suggest the software access was linked to the Iranian government,
There also isn't any evidence that it wasn't?
4. The investigation has not led us to believe this information was taken for the purpose of being used by a foreign government or terrorists to attack us,
Well, I doubt China would attack us, or anyone else, with the stolen plans of a new US cruiser, either, except in the rare instance that they rolled them up and smacked someone over the head with them.
5. the software does not pose a security risk because it doesn't control any of the nuclear plant's operating systems.
It isn't a security risk for unfriendlies to have detailed plans and layout of a fairly highly restricted facility?
I see. Thanks for the clarification.
Lawyers, government lawyers can be as precise or as sloppy in their intellectual acumen as they choose to be. They serve at the pleasure of the president.
Treason is supposed to be about aiding and abetting “The enemy”. However, without an outright declaration of war, you don’t have an enemy. There are lots of reasons to call Iran an enemy. Killing hundreds of American soldiers with IEDs, fomenting all kinds of terrorist activity are a couple things that come to mind. But somehow, in their minds, that makes for a terrorist state that gets put on the federal shit list, but does not make them an enemy. Amazing, I know.

I guess it is time they change their security procedures.
This guy quits in August and in October they still have not revoked his computer access.
That is sheer incompetence on some ones part.
His defense, I did not have a "Palo Verde user identification" after I quit.
?????
Wasn't his, most likely.
One place I used to work, if I wanted to access something at work, without leaving my 'fingerprints', I knew IDs of at least three less than careful other employees. When I retired, mine was canceled, but the others weren't.
Bet this guy did the same, but for nefarious purposes, rather than recreational.
What I do NOT understand is why this system was remotely accessible.
If only there was some way of knowing what his motive might have been. Just a single clue...
Nuclear plant? A guy named "mohamed"?
I'm no rocket scientist, but I suspect a muslim who is seriously trying to integrate himself into the American culture and society, would change that name.
I as making the silly assumption that anyone working at a nuclear plant must be a US citizen.
I do know that where chemicals are kept in large quantities, as in a water treatment plant, the citizenship requirement, I thought, was pretty universal.
Well they let Sadny Burger go so why not this guy?
And Pelosi, Reid etc.
