Nine employees of a party supplies rental company were arrested Thursday on immigration violations as part of a crackdown on illegal hiring at military bases and other high-security workplaces.

The five women and four men were arrested at Classic Party Rentals Inc.'s San Diego offices and were to be returned to Mexico, their home country, said Lauren Mack, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The company performs work at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, where immigration authorities recently began reviewing contractors' employee records, Mack said. An audit of Classic Party Rentals found 30 of 105 San Diego employees were in the U.S. illegally. It was unclear if any of the nine employees arrested worked on the military base.

The workers gave the company fake legal resident cards when they applied for jobs, Mack said. Authorities do not plan to pursue charges against the company.

Messages left after business hours at the company's San Diego office and its Los Angeles headquarters were not immediately returned.

Since 2003, immigration authorities in San Diego have targeted companies that work on military bases, airport tarmacs and other high-security workplaces. A recent audit of 93 contractors at Camp Pendleton Marine base resulted in 168 arrests.

I was in the building next door five or six years ago when Classic got raided and watched it thru the window. Probably took 20 or so guys that day. Everybody picked up worked in the warehouse area delivering and returning rental equipment.

whoop de doo.

nickle and dime. But hey, there is no way for employers to validate whether or not their employees are ‘legal’. So, under the guise of ‘fixing’ the problem with an identity card, we’ll just make them all legal while we’re at it, comprende?

I’m sick to death of this Administration treating us as if we are complete and utter morons. Unfortunately many of us must be...if that USA today poll was correct, 78 percent of americans now want to give illegals citizenship.

We’re the hold outs!
