Scientist: Warming not caused by humans (Former NASA scientist)

MADISON - Roy Spencer is speaking up about his belief that Earth is not headed toward a global warming disaster.

Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and former NASA scientist, said he knows he's in the minority with his opinions, but he doesn't believe manmade influences are causing catastrophic climate changes.

"We see something change in our climate and we blame ourselves," Spencer told the Republican Women of Madison during a lunch meeting Wednesday.

Spencer contends there is not yet enough known about the Earth's atmosphere to understand exactly what occurs naturally to stabilize the earth's climate.

"I don't think we understand what happens. We can watch it happen on the (climate) models, we know it happens, but we don't know for sure how it happens," Spencer said.

Developing new energy technology is the only way to know for sure, he said, because he believes the existing climate models are too sensitive.

"We see something change in our climate and we blame ourselves,"

Sort of reminds me of rain dancing to affect the weather, or sacrificing virgins to ensure a good harvest.

Funny, lots of quotes AFTER such a statement, but not for this? Aww, maybe that isn't what he said...

Who was the NASA climate scientist at Huntsville that complained he was being censured to not make his opinion known?

I am glad he is speaking up.

However, when:

“Spencer contends there is not yet enough known about the Earth’s atmosphere to understand exactly what occurs naturally to stabilize the earth’s climate.”

I think that:

We must admit to ourselves that “to stabilize the earth’s climate” must imply a very high degree of flexibility in that “stability”, from ice ages to periods of “warming”, if the “naturally” occurring past history is to be our guide.

Did not go out of style, problem was they had to travel so far to find a virgin they did not get back until after the harvest. Became pointless.

Now if we could just get NOAA on board with the theory that there are natural fluctuations in climate and that man has a negligible impact

Looking around noaa.gov it appears they may be members of the Inquisition

I guess that also, before the “virgin hunters” got back with their “quarry” they weren’t virgins anymore.......

James Hansen

Who did 1400 interviews.

On our dime probably.

Yeah, he sure was censured huh? LOL

Who was the NASA climate scientist at Huntsville that complained he was being censured to not make his opinion known?

That would have been James Hansen(sp?). He was censored so badly that he could only be interviewed something on the order of 1400 times, making his opinion known each time.

They use a lot of non earth scientists in the global warming community saying they are scientists and are qualified.

That would be like the Cubs calling on Lovie Smith (bears coach) to manage the Cubs.
