Please allow me to modify this slightly. WILD-CAUGHT ALASKAN salmon is better... (negligible mercury) Atlantic salmon is not so safe. Farmed is worst.

The way to avoid accumulating mercury it to take an ultra-refined omega-3 suppliment approved by the International Fish Oil Standards program. Check out this guide to omega-3 fish oil
