This highlights the ONLY way this could have been prevented. MAYBE, and only maybe, it could have been stopped if someone noticed that his behavior was escalating.
But he sounds so alienated (there is one report that he would not respond even if greeted) that maybe no one knew.
I feel sorry for his parents.
I truly doubt his parents would have seeked help or known. Especially if they were from the old country (South Korea) where that stuff is usually kept quiet for fear of shame.
I'm going out on a limb here as what follows is from a report that my wife caught on Fox news.
Other students in the shooter's classes referred to him as "question mark" because he never signed his name to assigned class work. Instead he signed with "?".
My wife is a retired teacher with 35 years experience. Her take on that was the strange signature should have sent up warning flags the first time it happened. It appears that the shooter was badly twisted and a ticking bomb just waiting for the final nudge to blow.

So do I. They left their homes, and everything they knew, halfway across the world to come to this country to make a better life for themselves and their son, and he chooses, for whatever reason, to spit in their faces with his actions.
