Meet the Robinsons - New Disney movie

It is terrific. It is fun, entertaining, has a great message, and, almost unbelievably, there is not a single joke involving flatulence, someone getting covered in dung of any kind, a male falling head first into a bosom or a guy getting hit between the legs.

I loved it, and recommend it FReepers. There were a couple of minor story things I wasn’t so crazy about, but they were overcome by the fun script, crazy good animation and characters you really care about.

We saw the 3D version and it was great. From the beginning with the rain to the closing logo, there were only a couple of times when I got the feeling they purposefully animated the way they did to play to the 3D aspect. The film itself is just fine without 3D, but I’d spend the extra $2 if given the chance.

So why exactly would I want to go see it?

;-)

Is the script in keeping with Disney regulations that mandate the total absence of fathers?

Did the little girls bulldoze the little boys, the way they have tended to do in most Disney films over the past 20 years?

Kind of, but without giving up a lot of the story it is not an issue. This is a good flick with many conservative themes (personal responsibility, etc.)

“almost unbelievably, there is not a single joke involving flatulence, someone getting covered in dung of any kind, a male falling head first into a bosom or a guy getting hit between the legs.”

I disbelieve.

"There is not a.. a male falling head first into a bosom"

Cool, more bosoms into which I can fall head first!

Wow, I’ve been waiting decades for the prequel to Swiss Family Robinson.

Is the father a complete idiot? Do they employ the magic person of high melanin content cliche? Is the bad guy a business man?

Finding Nemo...The Incredibles are a couple exceptions

Seriously a lot of this is probably due to the influence of John Lassater who came over from PIXAR to run Disney animation when the two merged*.

*They call it a merger but since Steve Jobs is now telling the rest of the board of directors when to jump and how high, and Lassater’s power is unquestioned it looks like Disney got sandbagged.

My kids and I loved it. The only part I squirmed slightly was the fat guy not getting his food. That was...uh... a little weird.

Oh, and them cheering the boy for “failing” (reminded me of Democrat ideals there for a moment). I understood why, but they need to cheer the success, too.

Both of those were Pixar-produced films.

I almost started a cussing storm at my home when I saw a Justin Timberlake commercial on Nickalodeon with him belching the entire monologue.

Nickalodeon is not watched very often any more at my home. They run crap like "The Naked Brothers Band", which is just a bunch of ill mannered screaming kids.
