A male coyote really did wander into the Quiznos sandwich shop at Wabash and Adams -- in the Loop! -- just before 2 p.m. Tuesday. Workers had propped open the front door for the warm afternoon, and in sauntered the roughly 30-pound, 18-month-old wild animal.

"He probably smelled our prime rib," observed Bina Patel, 23, the shop's manager......

"...Fellow worker Ronneshia Mukes, 19, screamed at the unwelcome guest and climbed onto the counter. The coyote then tried to jump over the counter, but he didn't make it....."

Wish I had a video of that.....

Clearly there are not enough “mouse rifles” in the great state of Illinois. I wonder why that is?

If a coyote walked into my place, in the middle of the city, at 2 pm, I would be worried that it was rabid!

Maybe not in the Loop on a workday, which is probably a good thing. Illinois has no shortage of long guns.

Quiznos needs to capitalize on this and get WB’s Wile Coyote and Road Runner signed to do their commercials.

No sense in letting free publicity go down the drain.

Why didn’t they just tell the coyote: “No shoes, No shirt, No service!”

I nearly killed a coyote on my way to work about two weeks ago.

Darn thing jumped right out in front of me. As it was dark I very nearly didn't see him at all. Big sucker, too.

Back in the late 80s, I think it was, we had a coyote wind up on an elevator in the federal building in downtown Seattle.

Actually, unless the coyote is attacking somebody, I’d think that shooting a gun during lunch hour in a business district might be a very bad idea.

Sorry, wasn’t lunch hour. Still think it would be a bad idea.
