A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 4-04-07
White House.gov & other sources ^ | 4-04-07

Posted on 04/04/2007 4:49:14 PM PDT by silent_jonny

President and Mrs. Bush left Washington today and traveled to Fort Irwin, California. There the president met with troops and observed several training exercises that are being developed specifically for operations in Iraq.

President Bush then had lunch with the troops and their families, thanking them for their service and for the many sacrifices they have made.

The president and first lady are scheduled to arrive at their home in Crawford, Texas late tonight to begin their Easter vacation.

In other news, President Bush named Sam Fox to be the new US ambassador to Belgium. (related thread)

Democrats had denounced Fox for his 2004 donation [$50,000] to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. The group's TV ads, which claimed that Sen. John Kerry exaggerated his military record in Vietnam, were viewed as a major factor in the Massachusetts Democrat losing the election.

… Recognizing Fox did not have the votes to obtain Senate confirmation, [President Bush] withdrew the nomination last month. On Wednesday [today], with Congress out of town for a spring break, the president used his power to make recess appointments to put Fox in the job without Senate confirmation.

This means Fox can remain ambassador until the end of the next session of Congress, effectively through the end of the Bush presidency.”

LOL!

OK everyone. Get out your tiny little Christmas lights and string them all over your favorite plants. The lights provide just enough heat to keep things from freezing.

I know you guys don't want to hear this, but it sure is hot out here in Phoenix. My Iris' are in full bloom.

You know what makes me so mad? This forecast has been known for at least 5 days, because I started worrying about this 5 days ago.

There was hardly anything on the news about it here locally, and mostly comments on the cold were simply about people having to get out their winter coats again. On the local TV this evening some lame reporter was talking about throwing a sheet over some daffodils. As if that would help.

You would think that with all of the money paid for meteorologists and ag extension offices someone could have warned people and given better instructions! I had to jury-rig what I could think of and I don't know if it was wasted effort or not.

Well, I am in a BAD mood about this. I better not hear one darn thing about global warming!

And where is Al Gore? Is he in my state? Every time he opens his yap there is another blizzard! IT IS ALL AL GORE'S FAULT!!

LOL! But I’m serious about the Christmas lights. They will keep your roses from freezing.

Too late, McGavin. The lights are in the attic, and the roses are WAY far away from the nearest outlet. I would have to run multiple extension cords.

Plus, I have about 30 roses scattered in various places around the yard.

***You won your toaster fair and square***

I had just put on that little siren icon in the upper righthand corner which Poor Muttley claims is his paw print, and it alerted me that the Dose was up. Just lucky!
