Police Commissioner Lucius Thomas has sought the advice of a team of Scotland Yard detectives, who were expected to arrive in the island between last night and this morning, to assist with the Bob Woolmer murder investigation.

A senior officer of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) who confirmed the information said the commissioner made the request through the Ministry of National Security.

"We have invited four senior Scotland Yard detectives to come and look at what we have done so far and to see if we are on the right track. We are making the investigations as transparent as possible," the senior officer disclosed.

The Gleaner understands that during their stay here, the Scotland Yard detectives will be working closely with Operation Kingfish. When contacted yesterday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of crime, Denver Frater, said the Scotland Yard officers will be reviewing the investigations and will offer support where it is necessary.

"At the moment, we are trying to get additional information and continue what we have been doing," said ACP Frater, when asked to give an update on the investigation.

Investigators have collected at least 39 statements so far from persons who were on the 12th of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, where Mr. Woolmer's body was discovered in a room on March 18.

They will be dispatching teams and using diplomatic channels to contact persons whom they have identified on the footage of the CCTV installed at the hotel. The Gleaner also understands that a pillow that was found in the room and which was soaked with blood at both ends, is among several pieces of vital evidence investigators are looking at.

Last Saturday two Pakistani diplomats, First Secretary Zahid Chaudhri and Counsellor Shahid Ahmed were flown from Washington D.C. to Jamaica to talk with the investigators.

According to police reports, Mr. Woolmer was discovered unconscious in his room on March 18 sometime about 10:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the nearby University Hospital of the West Indies about 12:14 p.m. He was killed less than a day after the Pakistan team crashed out of the IC Cricket World Cup after they were defeated by minnows, Ireland. Since then, the hotel's doctor and the chambermaid who discovered his body, have been given strict orders not to divulge any information.

I'll take heat for it but I'll go ahead and say it - Pakistan should be put out of organized sport for five years at least. Period.

They are out of control there and any team that plays any sport against them is at risk.
