That plane was in RDU (Raleigh, NC) a few months ago.
Came to pick up a huge generator and deliver it to somewhere in Africa.
I went to the airport and watched it take off at 10pm in a cool drizzling rain.
Amazingly quiet for such a huge beast.
The crowd of about 100+ clapped when it rotated and disappeared into the mist.
I figured it was a once in a lifetime sight.
(whoever needed that generator must have had a very fat wallet)
Good gads I'd imagine so!
That is so cool you got to see it take off. It gathers quite a liitle crowd for a yucky late eveing too huh?
A once in a lifetime sight indeed! Thanks for sharing that Vinnie!
A fair number of the big Antonov's fly in and out of Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, TX. Fits the bill perfectly for transporting large equipment for oil production, petrochem and refinery plants. And they can operate from not so paved fields.
Welcome to the Canteen, Vinnie....once in a lifetime for sure. Thanks for sharing.
